Amazon.co.uk Review
Our Kid Eh is quite possibly the most hotly anticipated album of 2001. Forget the new releases from Radiohead and Travis--who needs them when you've got Radioshed and Dave Lee Travisty, just two of the many aliases of Britain's greatest pub rockers, Shirehorses. Probably better known for their day jobs as Radio One DJ Mark Radcliffe and his trusty sidekick The Boy Lard, by night they transform themselves into the popular beat combo beloved by dozens, the mighty 'Horse. With the top-selling bargain-bin album The Worst Shirehorses Album in the World...Ever! behind them, there's no stopping them, as they take on the finest British bands around... and lose. Highlights include "Bellow"--a tenderly shouted tribute to the Boy Lard which puts Coldplay to shame--and "Fucking Around", a song that raises a smile with the taunt "you chuffing wizened chimp". Things do go a bit flat in the middle with "Pardon?" and "Quorn Medley", but they soon pick up again with "A Roll with This". In a world of po-faced serious musicians, Our Kid, Eh? is truly refreshing and should see itself slam-dunking its way straight into the Top 10. Biddly, biddly, bong. --Helen Marquis
CD Description
Radio One DJ's Mark & Lard offer another collection of comedy songs. 'Our Kid Eh' includes spoof versions of the Travishit 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me' and 'Roll With It' by Oasis.
Customer Reviews
Eh up ar kid, this music's chuffin spot on me old mucka!
Our Kid Eh will go down in history as being a musical/comedy masterpiece - fact. I read the reviews on this site before buying both Our Kid Eh and The Worst Shirehorses Album in the World Ever.... EVER, and was under the impression that Our Kid Eh was not as good as the first album. WRONG!!! If The Worst album.... is musical genius, Our Kid Eh is a step up from a masterpiece, musically it is much easier to listen to (sounds like a real band having a good bash at copying the original artists instead of a drunken Mark and Lard thrashing the drums and guitar in the first album)and the songs are longer, so you really get into singing along with them. True, there is less banter on Our Kid Eh, but this is made up with comedy from the top draw - the lyrics are side-splittingly funny. I dare anyone to listen to 'you were always f@cking around' or 'arseholes' and not want to sing the shirehorses lyrics whenever you hear the original songs!! For the price you will not find a better way to put a smile on your face then Our Kid Eh. Buy it you chuffin wizened chimps!!
Good, but not as good as the the first
I purchased the first album a long time ago and I was very...confused by the way two old men could make such amazing songs. But I did laugh and ,in my mind, it was a very good and original album. I thought it was so good that I should may as well buy the second album.
It is good but no way better than the first. My favourite track is (3) 'Arseholes'. That is the funniest one, and it also takes the piss out of Robbie Williams.
I recomend this album to anyone with a sense of humour.
Excellento!!!
I have been waiting for this album for so long! Following in the "cheap, tacky but humorous" line of their first outing, the mighty 'Horses have provided us with an amazing album. Keeping the spirit of their outlandish live performances, songs like 'Why Is It Always Dairy Lea,' 'Feel Like Shite' and epic Stan spoof 'Tony' keep you laughing for hours at their weird lyrics and spot-on musical pastiching... a sure reflection of Mark and Lard's cheeky sense of humour, not to mention The Dark Prince and Dick 'The Buttocks' Scruttock's genius. If you liked "The Worst Shirehorses Album In The World... Ever!" then you'll love this - witty, cheeky and jam packed with obscene language and even the occasional "I was having a drrrrrink then!" It's well worth it!!
