Great fun rhyming story with lovely pictures
This is a lovely story, with clean and appealing illustrations, of a father flying a kite and his little boy begging for a turn. Dad thinks Sam is too little and everyone has a try at catching the runaway kite, e.g. the postman and his sack of mail, a bank robber escaped from jail... and animals at the zoo, all with great rhyming text and a good paced rhythm. My children love it that all the adults struggle and in the end it is actually the little boy who is just right. This book is so lovely to share our local 'author' chose to read it on his visit to the community preschool. Perfect from 2 through 5.
A firm favourite
I first stumbled across this book at the library and my 3yr old son loves it. The book is in rhyme with a nice rhythm to it. I finally broke down and bought him his own copy as it got so much use! The illustrations are clear and fairly simple but it is the words (and silliness!) that we've fallen for.
Bigger
My 22 month old daughter's book of the moment. She loves to shout out "bigger" at the appropriate point (at the end of every rhyme). We've read it so many times I can recite it by heart... and I'm thankful it's NOT one of those annoying ones that gets on your nerves like some do. At the top of mine, as well as daughter's, current favourites!
