Not just about camping!
A book which has inspired an extensive web-site and open canoe forum. I read the 'Path of the Paddle' by the same author before this and probably enjoyed the 'Song of the Paddle' even more. A lifetime of knowledge and experience is shared by the author who is a wilderness canoeing guru. Very many pictures and tales of adventures make the book an absorbing read and reference source for budding adventurers. The only pity is that there is little similar wilderness in England to try this knowledge out upon. I would recommend the book especially for anyone planning any kind of open canoe camping trip. There is clearly no need to spend fortunes upon much of the fashionable, expensive kit that the canoeing and outdoors stores may tempt you into buying! Worth the trouble of tracking down a copy!

Song of the Paddle
I bought this from my Husband's Christmas wish list. It is a good book for all aspects of paddling and goes in to details of setting up canoes for expeditions. He started reading it on Christmas day and read it from cover to cover over the next few days. It was recommended to us by a good friend who paddles all over the world and has his heart and soul in it.

Excellent book
What an absolutely fabulous book. If you're in to canoeing or camping, it's a must buy. If you "rough" camp or just aspire to it, then it should be a compulsory purchase.

It's laid out in an easy to follow reference manner so you can skip straight to the bits you are interested in.
