"Philip's Navigator[registered] Britain" shows speed-camera locations, with their speed limits, and provides over 3,000 road names as well as numbers. It also includes a massive selection of 72 indexed town-centre maps, plus airport and port maps, detailed approach maps, London main roads maps, detailed route-planning maps, a distance table, and a 43,000-name index which includes places of interest. The main road maps are at 1.5 miles to 1 inch (3 miles to 1 inch in the Scottish Highlands) and are extra clear and detailed, showing even the smallest roads and lanes that are omitted from other atlases.Every roundabout, junction and slip-road is shown in detail on main roads and motorways. In country areas, thousands of individual houses and farms are marked, along with footpaths and tracks. The alpha-numeric grid is based on the National Grid, so that the atlas can be used with GPS systems, and the grid squares have been made smaller for this edition, making it easier to find locations when using the index. Thousands of tourist attractions and places of interest are shown on the maps, including national parks, nature reserves, houses and gardens, beaches, marinas, canals, county showgrounds, camping and caravan sites, shopping villages, tramways, World Heritage Sites, long-distance footpaths, sporting venues, park and rides, and ferries. "Philip's Navigator[registered] Britain" is widely used by professional drivers and the emergency services, including national police training, and is recommended in the motoring press and national newspapers.

As good as you could want, or need
I pondered at length over which UK road atlas I should get. Some were physically too large, eg 39x29cm, others did not have sufficient detail. Plus I wanted National Grid Reference (NGR) information which Amazon were a little coy in advising on any of their atlases. With this particular one they were even unable to describe the actual format. They do have a larger paper back version and a spiral bound version, both of which were clearly described as such, but this one was simply described as a road atlas! The only additional information was that it had more pages and was physically smaller than the others, A4 size. I took a chance and am happy to report that is is identical to the other formats (with the same level of detail) except that it has smaller pages but the same scale. It shows many of the obscure roads in the most remote places. It also has NGR information, both letters and 100Km squares. It is not hard back as I had hoped, but it is reinforced (sticky back plastic) paperback. All in all, I am very pleased with my acquisition. Postscipt - I notice Amazon have also tagged my review onto the Spiralbound A4 version, which I am sure is equally excellent, but this review applies to the paperback version.
Another great map
This is my second Philip's Navigator map. Would not have any other map now, there is so much detail. The only niggle with this version is that because the pages are smaller it is harder to plot your route as there is not as much area on each page, but it has the advantage of being more compact over my previous version. You will not get a better road map than these.
Best BUT too big!
For years I have rated Philips Navigator maps the best around and what was so good is they split the country into two or three large scale books (as I only ever needs the South). Now it is only available for the whole country and it is too big and I am in the process of finding a company that can rebind it in three sections, then it will be so much easier to handle in the car.
