As smart as it looks
This keyboard feels very light in the package, but is very good quality. It has a USB connector but comes with a PS/2 adaptor, so can be used on practically any machine. Its silver and black colouring looks smart on your desktop and the keys are nicely laid out without the overcrowding you find on some. Typing is comfortable and quiet. The keyboard has a "soft" feel rather than a "clicky" one and a detachable wrist rest is included.
I haven't bought a new keyboard for a few years and one feature I hadn't seen before is the F-lock or Function-Lock key, which gives the function keys on the top row a double life. If you have the F-lock on (a light like the one that comes on when you use Caps Lock will tell you if you have) the keys act in the familiar way as F1, F2 etc. through to F12. With F-lock off, they are instead shortcuts to Help, Undo, Redo, New, Open, Close, Reply, Fwd, Send, Spellcheck, Save and Print. You can leave it on or off, depending on how you like to work, or switch between the two modes when you want.
There are numerous "hot keys" (one-touch buttons) to do jobs such as control your music player and its volume, if you like music while you work; quickly go to folders such as My Documents, My Pictures and My Music; start your email program; launch your browser and go to your home page; log off or put your system to sleep. And, perhaps most useful, at the top of the keyboard there are 5 "favourites" buttons you can set to open any file, folder or program you want. Programming them is simple and a Star key underneath the 5 buttons displays on-screen which function you have assigned to which button.
Another clever idea is the Zoom Slider on the left of the keyboard, which allows you to zoom in and magnify your view of web pages.
I've had this keyboard for about 2 hours - can you tell how much I like it already? It feels so much better than my old one and I am delighted with it and delighted that I bought it :-) It's nicely made, well designed, full of clever and useful features and wonderful value for money. Very much recommended!
Good keyboard with a USB connection
A decent quality keyboard at a reasonable price. The only (minor) niggle is that the keys don't have that 'positive' feedback when pressed. Hard to describe, but that feeling when the resistance diminishes, and you know it's registered the keypress.
One thing worth noting is that this keyboard has a USB plug, along with an adapter for PS2 connections. Apart from the wireless variety, it seems that USB is still a rarity for keyboards. Important if you're looking for a keyboard for a laptop with no PS2 socket, (which I was).
Personally, I can take or leave the internet 'extras', but the basic functionality of this keyboard can't be faulted.
Media at its most practical
This is a MUST-HAVE. It has amazing functionality (with buttons like "Messenger", and five "favourites"). The keys are really easy to type with - even compared to the Microsoft Keyboards of around two years ago. I have just bought this keyboard to go with my new colour scheme, and it fits in sooo well.
I am not a fan of "fiddly" wireless desktops. If you don't like them too, then this is the one for you ;-)
