IT'S A MOUSE WITH NO WIRES
Ordered this to replace the bog standard wheeled mouse that came with my PC. First off it's easily installed. Note overly heavy even considering the batteries. Wireless reception is good. The mouse is smooth and accurate. I still use a mouse mat so couldn't tell you about other surfaces. The magnify feature could be useful at times but probably more of a gimmick.

What can I say really smooth and an ideal replacement for a mouse that had almost gone through the window. Only whinge would be that this is not for lefties but I am a righty! Buy it you'll be impressed.

The only mouse you'll ever need!
I purchased the Microsoft wireless optical mouse 5000 in March 2006 and have to say it's the best mouse ever! At first, it does seem a bit heavy to the hand especially if you've always used a corded optical mouse but you can get used to it. The weight is obviously due to the AA batteries that it takes.

It has the high definition technology along with smooth presicion. The scroll wheel is so quiet and the best part about it is that it also has a tilt function, which saves a lot of time. The buttons aren't too noisy like my regular corded optical mouse and so you can get on with your work in peace! Another excellent feature of this mouse is that it has a magnifier. Perfect for those size 10 font word documents. Performance of the receiver is excellent as you can have wireless connection upto approx 1.8 metres. It takes a couple of minutes to install and the on-screen instructions are very easy. The software that comes with the mouse allows you to customize the mouse. You can reassign any button, including the wheel button, to a different command. The mouse settings, such as the wheel scrolling rate can also be adjusted.

If I were to rate this mouse on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it an 11/10. It's a high quality mouse that'll last for a very long time. Trust me, if you want a decent mouse you must purchase the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 5000!

Unhappy user
I wish I had never purchased this mouse; since having it Word keeps loosing the curser - it is a real pain. Having spent so much on it I can't justify buying another after only 1 1/2 months
