Product Description

When Joe and his girlfriend Joy decide to trade in their life on a cold Lancashire fish market to run a bar in the Tenerife sunshine, they anticipate a paradise of sea, sand and siestas. Little did they expect their foreign fantasy to turn out to be about as exotic as Grimsby on a wet Monday morning. Amidst a host of eccentric locals, homesickness and the occasional cockroach infestation, pint-pulling novices Joe and Joy struggle with 'Brits abroad' culture and learn that, although the skies might be bluer, the grass is definitely not always greener. Dubbed 'Little Britain with a suntan', "More Ketchup than Salsa" lifts the lid on the morning-afters as well as the night-befores of life in a busy holiday resort. This is a must-read for anybody who has ever dreamed about jetting off to sunnier climes.

Customer Reviews

Thinking of buying a business in Tenerife...?5
Then you must read this first. It's funny and incitive, bust most of all it will give you the real low-down on what to expect.

It may seem like it's great fun and relaxing owning a bar abroad, but this book will tell you the real truth of all the hard work involved... in a humorous way that will keep you reading.

It may be a funny story to you, but many people have lived it!!! (me included). How many Elvis' are there again? :D

More Ketchup Than Salsa5
Brilliant read, type of book you want to read in one session.Be prepared to laugh out loud, you just can't help yourself.
A must for anyone thinking of going to work in Tenerife.
Can't wait for the sequel.

Dreams can come true5
If you're going on holiday to Tenerife,or have been,or in fact if you've ever dreamt of living and working abroad...I'd highly recommend this book.Joe Cawley writes with such a wry sense of humour. I had tears of laughter running down my face and laughed out loud from start to finish. I just could not put it down.
I enjoyed reading about all the things that I was familiar with on Tenerife and that together with Joe Cawley's hilarious descriptions of the characters and situations helped to cheer up some wet, dreary days in the U.K.
Had it confirmed that dreams can come true....depending on how you look at things,I suppose...So long as you're willing to put in the long hours and extremely hard graft and also accept the emotional/financial consequences, and perhaps be able to laugh, eventually, at the not so good experiences.
Look forward to the sequel and anyhting else that may come out of this fantastic book...Film,T.V.etc.
