Frivolous Lola is a spirited adult production that keeps very much to Italian director Tinto Brass' modus operandi of making light-hearted sex films with a European art house sensibility. The Lola of the title (played with gusto by Serena Grandi) is a flighty young woman, frustrated by her relationship with local baker's son Masetto. Her constant attempts to seduce him meet with little success, resulting in a passionate affair with her mother's lover, André. As with all of Brass' work, Frivolous Lola is an odd combination of European erotica and Carry On film--not helped by the clumsy English language dubbing and the somewhat bizarre appearance of Britain's own Patrick Mower. Aficionados of the director will also spot his primary fascination with a certain part of the female anatomy as Grandi's bottom dominates the shot at every possible opportunity.

On the DVD: Frivolous Lola on disc is digitally remastered, and the picture shows off the lushness of the Italian countryside, even though that was probably the last thing on the director's mind. Extras include an erotic photogallery and an interview with Tinto Brass himself, which does nothing to divert from the image of this man as something of an enigma in his chosen field. --Phil Udell

Frivolous but Fun
This is an entertaining film from Tinto Brass and probably the best one I've seen so far. It is my experience that Brass normally has an attention span of about 10 to 15 minutes. In that he works with short episodes in a film rather than carrying a strong theme throughout. 'Lola' is an exception, for me anyway and I will happily accept correction for more avid Brass fans.

It follows the exploits of a girl before she settles down. It seems the thought of marriage and such like spurs her into a series of mild adventures with just about any male in the near vicinity. She also has a beau who is somewhat preturbed by her fun loving nature and this, as you may imagine, causes friction between the pair.

However, there is a slightly more serious element in the film when it comes to her relationship with her step-father or indeed he may be her father! Her mother is non too pleased about this. I'll say no more in this regard and let story unwind itself for the viewer.

Overall and enjoyable and mainly light hearted film, probably worth a look.

Safe Sex
Frivolous Lola is a seventies soft porn movie that was made in the late nineties. I enjoy it's naevity. It is charming and has a kind of innocence. Tinto Brass appears to have an obsession with bottoms and the sexual scenes are voyeurish in a school boy fashion. Because of this, though there are scenes that are not politically correct, I find it hard to be offended by this film. It is very soft core pornography for those who appreciate such things. It has more in common with Emmanuelle than Debbie Does Dallas. A worthy addition to the collection and I, personally, will be checking out more Tinto Brass.

Tito Bass makes the most beautiful adult films, this is exceptional. The young lady has an exquisit body and she comfortable showing it off.
I wouldn't consider this film porn but simply genuine admiration for sex and the femail form. Show your girl freind or wife and have an enjoyable time.
