Customer Reviews
The most peaceful and solemn collection of christmas music.
This is 2 and 1/2 hrs of the most peaceful and solemn Christmas music. Another winner from the Decca adagios series; released in 2001. From the most popular traditional Christmas chorals like Adam's Holy night, the Tanenenbaum, Away in a manager, Coventry carol , While shepherds watched, to popular baroque Christmas music like Bach Christmas oratorio, and popular Christmas classics, there is a variety of music on this 2 CD box set to appeal to all. Apart from the variety, the orchestral rendition and chorals sung by some of the world's finest voices, - Angela Gheorghiu, Kiri Te Kanawa, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Renate Tebaldi, Anthony Way amongst others , backed by the finest orchestras' makes this CD set a must have and a definite keeper for all lovers of music in general and adagio in particular. This CD set also makes a great gift and good stocking filler. Since I purchased it years ago it has become my favourite Christmas CD especially for those moments when you want solemnity to absorb the deep meaning of Christmas. I highly recommend it.
Xmas relaxation
Great CD for getting into the Christmas spirit or just having on in the background whilst cooking/wrapping presents.
