Inspirational and Beautiful!5
I had heard about the French General shop in Hollywood, California through friends who had visited the shop - and the website: www.frenchgeneral.com -- but I was totally unprepared for the amount of inspiration that I found in this book! Each page is filled with beautiful collections of old notions - beads, buttons and millinery - that can be used in all sorts of projects to embellish your home. Easy instructions at the back of the book along with pages of artwork that you can copy to make tags and labels with. I haven't seen such a beautiful little treasure in years - I am thrilled with my new book! Thank you to the wonderful designers at French General - I can't wait to visit their shop someday.

A Vintage Inspiration5
If you love vintage and crafting, then you cannot fail to enjoy this book. For those times when you have neither the time or the money to get to a flea market, this will satisfy the urge to treasure hunt. It combines great pictures (unusually for a book about vintage you won't have seen these shots before)and some lovely quirky ideas to carry out at home.
The author runs a store in the USA which sells vintage and reproduction items such as buttons, embellishments, lace and fabric. This gives you a window into her world while inspiring you to carry out some projects yourself. I have already run to my work room to start making things, just hours after receiving this book. It is just beautiful.

pretty to look at3
maybe because I am a crafter and I have loads of ideas under my belt, I felt this book was nice to have in the collection but not really as fantastic as it is made out to be. If anything, it was one of those books that appeal to one to sit and look at on a rainy day. You know you will probably never get around to trying any idea but it is entertaining to pass an hour looking at the pretties. To sum up it is saying come to our shop to buy our items, so a form of advertisement if you are not creative and have lots of money to pay others for their ideas and buying efforts. I would not have bought it in a shop at the expensive new price.
