From the king of children's horror, this is the third feverishly anticipated title in "The Demonata". "Never trust fairy tales. There are no happy endings. There's always something new around the corner. You can overcome major obstacles, face great danger, look evil in the eye and live to tell the tale - but that's not the end. As long as you're breathing, your story's still going!" Nightmares haunt the dreams of Dervish Grady since his return from the Demonata universe, but Grubbs takes care of his uncle as they both try to continue a normal, demon-free existence. When a legendary cult director calls in Dervish as consultant for a new horror movie, it seems a perfect excuse for a break from routine and a chance for some fun. But, being on the set of a town called Slawter stirs up more than memories for Grubbs and his friend Bill-E.

Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. The covers, with images of ghouls, creeping hands and dripping fangs are terrifying alone. Even better than the amazing Demon Thief!
This book is the best out of the three bokks made in the Demonata series. I still think this even though I absoloutely loved the second book (Demon Thief). This contains the best contents of the first two books. The character Grubbs (who I preffered) and the extremely descriptive feelings from Lord Loss, and the gore and spookiness from Demon Thief. These things combined make this book chillingly descriptive on every topic included in the book. Once again, Darren Shan proves to be one of the best writers for teenagers today.
The book picks up where we left Dervish, Bill-E and Grubbs in Lord Loss.
Dervish is still shaken up after being in the Demonata universe. A famous horror film director wants to make a new movie on demons. He somehow knows that Dervish knows all about demons, and so, invites him to the town of Slawter to help with his film. Dervish, of couse, accepts the offer of the director hoping this will be a fun break. Drevish invites Grubbs and Bill-E to come with him. But, unknown to them, this mysterious director is working for Lord Loss, and is setting a trap for the new visitors!
All the characters have the same personalities, and so do the demons! The demons include the infamous Vein, Artery, Lord Loss, and, on the cover of the book, we see Cadaver. There are many twists and unexpected turns in the plot. The ending is very good, leaving Darren Shan a good opening into the next book about Grubbs. The battle at the end is really scary, it is a blood shed battle between the humans and the demons, explained in gory detail.
great horror series
From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, even though the storylines are flimsy to say the least, they are still excellent reading.
Ready, Set, Slawter
I haven't gotten into darren shan's new series about the demonata until I read this book.
This is the best book in the series yet
Basically dervish is asked to help a famous horror director to make a movie about demons
Dervish knowing all about these demons accepts the offer but doesn't know that it is all a set up of lord loss's to kill Dervish, Grubbs and Bill-E
This really is a great story with a lot of unexpected events and terrifying events. It kept me reading until 2 in the mornin' and I'm sure it will do the same with.
Welcome to the town of Slawter
