Manufacturer's Description
Crank up the audio on your PC with this 2.1 speaker system and enjoy clean, crisp, consistent sound from your games, music, and more. The Logitech X-230's high-tech subwoofer adjusts itself dynamically to deliver distortion-free bass. And the two wall-mountable satellite speakers use Logitech's patented FDD2 technology to eliminate the uneven sound response created by conventional dual-driver designs. The result: a clear, uniform sound field without the "hot spots" and inconsistency of other dual-driver satellites.

    Well worth the money5
Well being a student, I am always sure to be very frugal when it comes to buying anything. I've needed speakers for a while now (ever since I went to uni and had to contend with my neighbour's stereo system) and at this price and with all the great reviews I couldn't pass them up.

I am, needless to say, very impressed. My neighbour now fears the awesome power of my bass fuelled sound machine, and every time he decides to play hip-hop at god knows what time of night, he faces a worthy adversary in the metal that blasts out of my small, but mighty speakers.

For that alone, the price tag is warranted.

    Logitech X-230 speakers - Wow5
Having just ordered a new pc i thought it about time to upgrade the speakers aswell so while waiting for my new system to be delivered i read a well known pc mag for opinions on what speakers to buy and these were rated as the best budget buy by a long distance, and i cannot fault them one bit.

After connecting the speakers to my existing pc in under 5 minutes i was blown away by the amazing sound quality. i even had to turn the bass on the sub down as it was quite overpowering on full whack. The right speaker has the master volume control on as well as the headphone jack and power button, plus the lead on the back which is for connecting to the pc, the sub has its own bass control on the back which you can adjust accordingly and this then plugs into the mains for the power supply. All simple easy connections make this a doddle to set up and keep cluster down

The actual units are well put together and feel very sturdy and solid. also the glossy black fronts add to the appeal of the speakers on your desk. They sound far better than some more expensive speakers friends have bought for their pc's and couldn't believe the volume i got out of these tiny units! and its not down to the sound card either as im using the integrated one thats in my 5 year old pc so with a dedicated card it should be even clearer! The sound truly is pin point and crisp with deep punchy bass from the stand alone sub, which coped well when playing The Prodigy and their deep bass lines! For this price im extremely satisfied with them and would reccomend them with no hesitation. They look great, sound fantastic and are a steal at this price. Buy them now!

    Too much bass3
I bought this speaker system after reading many 5 star reviews. Yes the sound quality is good, the speakers and subwoofer look good and they are well made.

However, the subwoofer produces a LARGE amount of BASS even when the subwoofer volume adjustment is turned to minimum. The problem with this speaker system is that it is not possible to have more volume from the speakers and have the subwoofer at a reasonable level. The amount of bass from the subwoofer far outweighs the mid-range sound/volume from the speakers. The speakers also have a volume adjustment, which controls both speakers and subwoofer, yet this increases the amount of bass in direct proportion to the speaker volume.

I have tried adjusting the graphic equaliser on my PC (in media player and on sound card settings) to reduce the bass although this results in music sounding distorted. I have also used my iRiver mp3 player which has more graphic equaliser options than my PC. The result is much the same, when the bass is reduced, music sounds distorted.

The reason why the music sounds distorted and the reason why this speaker system does not produce enough mid-range sound is because it has only small speakers which are good at producing high-range sounds and a subwoofer only capable of producing low-range sounds; thereby creating the illusion of mid-range by combining the high and low-range. I think this speaker system could be easily improved with a lower minimum setting on the subwoofer volume adjustment.

If you LOVE BASS and want it LOUD (i.e. Dance/house/techno/drum&bass/garage) then these speakers are perfect for you. However, if you want to listen to music such as indie and rock music then I recommend you look for a speaker system with better mid-range sound (and/or better subwoofer volume control).
