Product Description

Raw foods are enjoying increasing popularity, particularly now many Hollywood stars are discovering how a diet based on fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts and juices leaves you looking and feeling great. Recently Donna Karan, the fashion designer attracted media attention when she lost 2 stone on a raw food diet and Demi Moore went raw to train for her role in the last Charlie s Angels movie. Kate Wood has been on a high raw diet since September 1993 and currently her entire family eats a diet of over 90% raw foods. She edited Fresh, the magazine of the Fresh Network from 1997-2000. Her first book, Eat Smart Eat Raw was published by Grub Street in 2002 and is now the best-selling raw food recipe book in the UK. Eat Smart Eat Raw has been published in the United States, Canada and Australia and has been translated into French. There has never been a better time to try going raw and in this her second book, Raw Living, Kate provides more delicious easy recipes and guidelines demonstrating how raw foods have an extraordinary potential to transform by giving energy, strength and health . Kate Wood is 36 years old and lives in Brighton with her three sons Reuben, 9, Ethan, 6, and Zachary, 3. Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Raw Living, Kate's second book, contains over 150 new recipes, as well as an extensive introductory section covering all aspects of the raw lifestyle. From tips on feeding a family on raw, from how to improve your love life with raw foods, to complementary holistic techniques to ensure long-term health and vitality, Kate shares her wisdom and insights gleaned from her fourteen years experience. All the recipes are easy to prepare and deliciously enticing. There are a lot of excellent raw food books around now, but most of them are written by US authors who are chefs in retreat centres or restaurants. What sets this book apart from the rest is it is written from the perspective of a UK domestic kitchen, so all the recipes are gourmet quality food, but simple, easy and quick to make for everyone. Recipes include Red Pepper Ketchup, Thai Pumpkin Soup, Courgette Chips, Coriander Wraps, Lebanese Cauliflower Crackers, Gorgeous Goji Pudding, Banana Creme Pie, and Chocolate Brownies.

From the Author
I really loved writing this book. Going back over all the information made me realise all over again how exciting raw foods are. It is such an easy concept to take on board, and its effects are nothing short of revolutionary. I have been travelling on this path for many years now but it's human nature to take things for granted and forget how far we have come. These days I am in the blessed position where most of my friends and the people I surround myself with are rawfooders; it's not even something I think about anymore. Putting the information together for this book has helped me see it with fresh eyes. I am passionate about the implications of the raw food diet for our society. When everyone starts to honestly take responsibility for their own health, to take their lives back into their own hands and empower themselves with the true facts about human potentiality and vitality, what kind of a world will we be creating then? When everyone wakes up feeling as super-charged and enthusiastic about life as the average rawfooder, what amazing realities will we be able to manifest? One of my most dearly held maxims is to `be the change you wish to see in the world.' This is my main motivating force for eating a raw food diet, and why I feel it is so important. Eating raw provides us with one of the most integral tools for living a life of joy and abundance, for being a positive inspiration to those around us, and to counteracting all the negative and awful things that happen in the world day after day. I believe the best way to make the world a better place is to be a force for good in every way you can, at every moment possible; I believe complaining, fighting and protesting just contributes more unhappiness to the overall global situation. After twenty years of thinking this way, I can see sure signs that humanity as a whole is beginning to see there is a bigger picture, and I am often overwhelmed by the massive shifts that could be made once this consensus becomes reality. Now we are at a time where this is truly possible, and by holding this book in your hands and accessing the information I have built up after years of study and experience, you have found a wonderful key for really making your life a shining example. How fantastic is that?

raw food kitchen3
Quite a good book, lots of handy info, well written. Good for someone who is raising a young family and wants to try introducing more raw foods to children. The author is realistic about the problems of going over to a wholly raw diet in Britain, and does her best to experiment with foods that are commonly available in Britain. However, there are some ingredients that are just not available everywhere, so your options will be limited.

Great Book5
Lots of fantastic inspiring recipes, though quite a few do require a dehydrator. Kate's recipes work, I have really enjoyed the ones I have tried.
