If you are of a "certain age" - or even younger5
This is the book for every person (yes, even a bloke!) of a "certain age". It proves that age itself doesn't mean that the mind dulls, or the curiousity and interest in life need be blunted. With respect to Shirley, she's now "well on" in physical years - but just as quick witted and fearless as usual - and is finding that ageing is a wonderful and rewarding experience - and most importantly, we never stop learning and growing, and seeing the wisdoms alive around us for the noticing of.

The fifty plus bracket should read this book for encouragement, and the younger ones should, to prepare them for the fun and growth that awaits them when the times of white hair and "laughter lines" approaches.

If we live life half as fully as this lady - we'll do well!

Everything But The Kitchen Sink4
Don't be put off by the title of my review. I love reading Shirley MacLaine's books. They are as entertaining as they are informative. It's just that I was a professional advertising writer for more than 30 years (a spiritual author now), so I was trained to keep my writing as focused as possible. Shirley tends to go down any avenue that crosses her mind, and there are many of those avenues in this book. She writes about everything from holistic medicine, to the nature of synchroniticies, to her favorite topic of "star beings." I learned quite a few new things from this book. And I especially applaud her eloquence in describing our relationship to the divine (which is the focus of my work). But what I like best about Shirley is that she never comes off as a "know-it-all." You can tell that she is always open to knowing more than she currently knows. In fact, most of the ideas that she puts forward in this book are phrased as questions. Shirley will inspire you to question your own beliefs, as she has been questioning the nature of "reality" her entire life. Enjoy!

Her journey continues...5
If you've enjoyed Shirley MacLaine's previous volumes of autobiography, you'll find this one a pleasure. And if you're new to Ms MacLaine's metaphysical musings, this serves as an entertaining and accessible "jumping on" point, with an emphasis on making the most of our elder years. Relevant to all ages, with particularly interesting information on naturopathic medicine and dentistry, and peppered with entertaining anecdotes from Shirley's Hollywood career, this one comes highly recommended.
