Amazon.co.uk Review
He didn't go so far as to call it Silk Degrees II, but Dig is as close as Boz Scaggs is likely to come to recording the sequel to his most commercially successful and, for many, best-loved record (unless you count 1977's underrated follow-up, Down Two Then Left). Reunited after all these years with Silk Degrees collaborator David Paich, Scaggs makes a successful return to the blue-eyed soul of his late-1970s works on tracks such as "Desire" and "Thanks to You", the latter featuring tastefully muted trumpet work from Roy Hargrove. Elsewhere, a tuneful "Call That Love" bounces along over a "Lowrider"-style groove, while "Get on the Natch" and "You're Not" are apparent attempts by Scaggs and Danny Kortchmar (who coproduced with Paich) to fuse blues and hip-hop. There's even something for fans of Paich's old band, Toto, whose pristine pop stylings, circa "Africa" are echoed on "Vanishing Point", arguably one of this album's best cuts. True, nothing here may be quite as poppy as "Georgia" or as pretty as "Harbor Lights", but Scaggs deserves credit for trying to evoke the spirit of Silk Degrees without merely pandering to his past. -- Bill Forman

CD Description
Boz Scaggs's first recorded effort of the new millennium finds the velvet-toned Texan employing a big-tent stylistic philosophy, dabbling with a rich mix of R&B, jazz, rock and hip-hop. Aided by a core support staff featuring long-time friends Danny Kortchmar and David Paich, Scaggs wastes no time applying his dulcet tones to smoky ballads like the slow jam"Desire" and the simmering "Thanks To You" (featuring restrained accompaniment by trumpeter Roy Hargrove). With its slowed-down drum loop and fat-sounding guitar-picking by Scaggs, "I Just Go" finds the San Francisco native applying a modern touch to his trademark sound.
Boz fans the flames slightly with the mid-tempo shuffle "Call That Love", delivers "Call That Love" with Latin pop flair, and flows over the chugging electro-funk of "Get On The Natch". But longtime fans will be relieved to know that blue-eyed soul remains a favourite on this rich musical menu. Among the head chef's tastiest dishes are the dreamy "Sarah", with its slow-burn vibe, and the equally laid-back "Miss Riddle" featuring Hargrove injecting plenty of Miles-like flourishes. Yet another triumphfor a wily music vet.

EXCELLENT5
I have just recently bought this cd. It is one of the best Jazz cd's I have heard. I cannot fault any of the tracks. The vocals are superb, and the backing is 'Spot on'. Stand out track has to be 'Vanishing Point'. I really cannot put into words how Good this cd is. Have a listen and see for yourself!. You won't be dissapointed.

Boz is back.5
This album deserves to be a smash. There isn't a bad track on it. My favourite at the moment is Vanishing Point. Boz has a superb voice and his guitar playing on this is excellent. His best since Silk Degrees.

Excellent4
This is a really excellent CD, and once again demonstrates Boz Scaggs' remarkable versatility. As others have said, 'Vanishing Point' is the stand-out track, but the whole CD is excellent. The only reason for not giving this one all five stars is that I prefer "Some Change" and "Come on Home".
