Hits the right spot
By 1979 dance music was starting to fragment as a number of artists found disco a little too limiting and formulaic. Through disco's death black music recalimed some of the original funk and soul which originally had been part of what sent disco dancers to the floor. This compliation is an interesting selection of some of those artists. It takes the genuinely classic sounds of Slave, Womack & Womack, and Gwen McCrae and adds lesser gems such as Larry Wu and Five Special, neatly capturing the sound of the time when white socks illuminated the UV coloured dancefloors of the UK. To those who have ever asked, what happend to black music after disco? I would suggest they buy this.
