Village Soul
At last the long awaited release of "Village Soul" A very carefully put together compilation of some the very best Soul music you are likely to buy this year.
Karen Pree's " Make love last forever" is just such a great feel good record.Track 9 is the excellent "Do this world a favour" by Beres Hammond, and check out The Marriotts version of Aaron Neville's "Tell it like it is" pure class.
The Norfolk Village, in London's Shoreditch is no more, and passed into Soul folklore long ago. Buy this CD and be transported back to a magical time and place. By the time you get to the end of the last track ("I come running back" is synonymous with Terry Jones) you'll be reaching for the replay button on your player.
If you like Soul music, make sure you purchase this CD. Nuff said.
Feel Good Music
A togetherness product, which usually means quality and this, is no exception.
Compiled by togetherness DJ Terry Jones and covers his time as DJ at the Norfolk Village Pub (hence village soul), the pub closed in 1996 and these are some of his favourite tracks from his time there.
This compilation contains tunes from 2002 with Kim English and goes back to 1969 with a numbers from The Marriott’s and Dee Dee Warwick sister of Dionne.
This is a good compilation with no fillers and my favourites would be Aretha’s 1985 self penned and produced number Integrity, followed by Corey Glover’s Little Girl very Al Green sounding and a song from the 60’s The Marriott Tell it like it is a super track.
This compilation comes highly recommended and with 4 stars
