'Should Have Been So Much Better'
For a band like Starpoint that had 25 U.S R&B hits, that this compilation has only 10 tracks is an insult in itself. Worse is that arguably their best two tracks are absent here also, namely, the highly sought after in soul circles, 'Bring Your Sweet Lovin' Back' and the incredibly funky 'It's All Yours' from around 1983/4. What you do get here are tracks primarily that crossed over in America and are therefore the bands more commercial output. 'Object Of My Desire' was the groups biggest U.S R&B hit of all and reached no 25 on the pop charts too but it did little in the U.K. The same can be said about 'He Wants My Body' and 'D.Y.B.O' while 'What You Been Missin' is a rather 'paisley park' sounding track that's good but more for listening than dancing. 'Restless' is probably the best track on offer here for U.K soul fans and is an uptempo dancer and 'Am I Still The One' is a good ballad that shows off the sadly late Renee Diggs great voice to good effect. The remainder are o.k but nothing special and won't set U.K soul fans hearts alight. One for American tastebuds then methinks!
