Great funky sounds from San Franciso
Having recently played with Prince's band New Power Generation, San Francisco singer-songwriter Rose Ann Dimalanta (rad) releases her sixth album `East Babe'.
The album has a good live feel, featuring musicians who have played with George Clinton, Herbie Hancock, Prince, Santana and Tower of Power.
The album starts with the gritty funk sound of `East Babe'. `That Ain't No Way' and `As of Today' continue the solid live feel.
Other songs that stand out are `Baby Girl' with its French bistro sound, the mid-tempo soul of `Before we say goodbye' and `Next to you'. The album ends with an eleven-minute jazz-funk composition called `In Time Win Love'.
A great album from rad, backed up with an excellent band.
