Editorial Reviews
CD Description
The sixth studio album from American music and film superstar is the follow up to 2004's 'The Dana Owens Album'. Continuing in the same style as its predecessor, 'Trav'lin' Light'makes use of Latifah's vocal talents, combining a variety of genres including jazz, blues and contemporary R&B. Produced by Ron Fair, Tommy LiPuma and Marc Shaiman, the album seesLatifah breathing new life into a collection of jazz classics, including Nina Simone's 'I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl' and Phoebe Snow's 'Poetry Man.'
Customer Reviews
So so
She has a pleasant voice and a relaxed style, but based on this CD, I would rate Queen Latifah as only an average member of singers of the second rank. I have heard versions by other singers of three of the tracks, and I thought the other versions better. I do not think that Ms Latifah's version of Corcovado/Quiet Nights would feature in the top 20 versions. I would recommend this CD, therefore, only to those who, for whatever reason, are diehard Latifah fans.
