Ian Meagher surrey ( UK)
This cd doesn't have any fillers it's 15 cuts of soul bliss. Those of you who listen to Ralph Tee and Richard Searling at Jazz FM will know that these guys deal in quality tunes. The more uptempo cuts include British contributions from the excellent Reel People and The sunburst band with great tracks. The much championed George Bensons When Love comes calling ( writen and produced by Bluey is included ) along with 2.26 minutes of absolute soul bliss by Jean Wells with What have i get to lose. Really top class compliation , you need to have this.
EXCELLENT
I own all releases in the Soul Togetherness series and after the disappointment of 2007, this release is a welcome return to form. In fact, this release enjoys a "residency" in my CD player, packed with the very best in modern soul from the 70's onwards. Okay, there are a couple of tracks that don't quite maintain the standard but the overall package is very pleasing on the ear, with some tracks that may have otherwise have been missed. If you liked the other soul togetherness releases and appreciate top drawer soul, then buy this without hesitation. Thoroughly ecommended.
Soul Togetherness disappoints-not one to spend time with
I bought this in high hopes, having read the glowing review. Obviously tastes differ, but compilations are usually a fun way to discover new songs, new artists, and generally widen your playlist. Sadly, this is not one of those. While it started well, with a nice retro vibe, things fell away from this promising start with only 3 or 4 tracks worth the listening time. One or two tracks only qualify as soul muzak I'm afraid to say. I'm a great fan of the Soul Lounge series, and hoped this would be as good, but if you like Soul Lounge, don't get this.
