The perfect picture book with a special feel-good factor, which makes it an ideal present for young readers.

Customer Reviews

Fantastic5
My son (3) and I really enjoy all the books written by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, but this one is our favourite (well actually joint favourite with the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom).

As usual there is a fantastic rhythm to the story - it is a positive joy to read the book aload.

The illustrations are particularly good (and adult readers will enjoy the jokes included in the background).

A perfect bedtime story5
My two year old son adores this. It's an absolute favourite, along with Bear Hunt, A Squash and a Squeeze and the 'Snore' book! It's a wonderfully rhythmical story and if you don't mind doing silly voices and making up tunes it's perfect for reading at bedtime. As with all the above mentioned books, I often catch him reciting passages to himself..., "My tie is a scarf for a cold giraffe" etc. We have a wonderful children's bookshop near us and they recommended this book. At first I thought he might be too young, but they were absolutely right

My 3.5-year-old-daughter A-D-O-R-E-S it!!5
As mentioned by several reviewers, the story is consistent and very correct, full of education and good behaviour towards others around you - a great addition to any 2-5-year-old-child's development. However in addition, it also happens in stages, each new one full of charming characters, with compelling beautiful scenes. There is so much detail in each scene that every time you re-read, there is a new side-story to tell, which keeps an observing child as my daughter very curious to know what happens next. My daughter enjoys the inventing of the parallel characters, nothing to do with the core-story, like the daddy-cat fishing, then the kitty-cat, with mummy-cat by the tent, grilling a fish on the fire. I wish all books I bought my daughter, brought her as much enjoyment as this one.
