Synopsis
For viewers bored or distressed by the constant gore and breakneck speed of hospital dramas like ER, GREY'S ANATOMY comes as a breath of fresh air. Unlike other shows set in the world of medicine, this series is just as concerned with its characters' personal lives as with their medical careers, and thrives by stressing the way in which the two intertwine. After all, for surgical interns who have chosen to dedicate their lives to medicine, the hospital largely becomes their home. Extremely well-written, the series mixes serious issues like mortality with funny storylines and wit. Each character is well developed and individualized, coming off as real rather than stereotypical.

Rather than standing on its own, each medical challenge sheds some light on the doctors' personal experiences, bringing the hospital environment to a refreshingly relevant level. While the series may not be the most realistic medical drama on television, it is certainly the most compelling and entertaining, containing such juicy plotlines as love triangles, affairs between co-workers, and secret romances. This release contains every episode from the show's well received second season, picking up right where the first left off, with Meredith discovering that her boyfriend, Derek, has been hiding the fact that he's married. Shocked and betrayed, Meredith embarks on a messy healing process that involves angry shouting matches and a string of one-night stands. As usual, the show avoids taking itself too seriously by interjecting serious themes with light-hearted dialogue and humorous medical emergencies. Rounding out the already impressive ensemble cast are new characters like Derek's wife (Kate Walsh) and new love interests for most of the cast. While the season contains plenty of laughs, it keeps the intensity up as well, and ends on a decidedly sombre note.

Worth it even with the mix-ups...5
First of all, I have to say this: A few of the reviews so far have been saying 'Don't buy this from here because it's messed up,' meaning Amazon, perhaps suggesting that the problem is Amazon's fault. It's not. I bought mine from a high street retailer and it's exactly the same so I think it's a little unfair to blame Amazon in particular. If you want to complain to someone, complain to the producers of the DVD. :)

That being said, whilst the numbers and disc numbers may be a little mixed up, all the episodes are still there in order so just watch them in the order they come in the packaging as it will make sense. Just don't pay any attention to the episode numbers. Trust me, it works absolutely fine.

And now on to the show. Grey's Anatomy is fabulous. I've never been so into and excited about a show before this, but this show is just amazing. It deals with real problems and it has the right mix of hospital drama and the real-lives of the characters. I would recommend this show to anyone!

Amazin show, confusing DVD4
Ok, I'm an absolutely HUGE fan of this show and I cannot stress how highly I rate it, however I think the DVD numbering has caused a great deal of unnecessary confusion.

As the UK viewers were given an extra 5 episodes in the season 1 DVD set (14 instead of the original 9 shown in the US), there are only actually 22 episodes on the season 2 set (as opposed to the 27 that the US viewers will get). The narrative on the covers of the DVD's has gone by the UK numbering of the episodes whereas the DVD's themselves have gone by what the episode would have been numbered in the US. If you're going by the sleeve of the DVD, add 5 to get episode number as shown in the US. If you're going by the DVD's, deduct 5 to get the episode number as shown in the UK.

Personally, I don't see that this as being a huge problem. All the episodes are there and, on my set at least, there has been no duplication of the episodes - save for the one 'catch up' episode.

All the usual cast members return and the addition of the wonderful Kate Walsh as a regular really adds a breath of fresh air. Her portrayal of Addison Shepherd will transform you from loathing to loving her. Of course, the at times heart-wrenching emotional saga between Meredith and Derek continues and culminates in a breathtaking season finale. If you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy, I would say that this DVD is certainly worth buying. The shown itself remains on top form and I'm looking forward to watching season 3 when it's released.

Wow5
I'm not usually a fan of hospital dramas, but ever since I caught an episode by chance I decided to buy this as I really, really wanted to see what happened next. The characters in this are all complex, and unlike most other dramas, they all have their flaws which is compelling & leads you never knowing what's going to happen next. The storylines themselves are original and well-written, with humour and drama being balanced which is refreshing. It also has an amazing soundtrack, and I for one found it hard to stop watching episode after episode! Definitely would recommend this to anyone, it'll at the very least raise some smiles, tears and all the emotions in between. The visuals are also incredible!
