Nice unit
This nano has had some vast improvements from the first generation all those years back. The screen has enlarged, and is very good. The colours and clarity is exceptional for something this small. It is a lot thinner, less than 1cm, and has a nice curved shape. It has a new feature not before seen on the nano, let alone any ipod, and this is a shaking the ipod to change track. The genius software is very good and I find very useful and selects suitable matches for my music library. Also, new with this generation is the accelerometer built in. This allows you to turn the ipod on its side to watch video. The price is very good, but is still expensive for its capacity. However, this is made up for in superb free software that is very easy to use and master. Also, this is by far, the most accessory orrientated MP3/4 player. However saying this; some of the new generation ipods including this one don't work on old docking stations. You may want to be aware of this if you intend to use old accesories.
Very Happy
Just upgraded from my Ipod mini due to various issues with it.
Still totally amazed by how light it is. I use it a lot at work and am convinced that the headphones and the USB cable weigh more than the unit itself. Although the device itself appears to be quite study.
I think the lock button may break eventually.
So minus points
Mini had pre-determined playlist set-up, not so with this ipod
Random function does not appear to be so random
Why oh why is there no radio on the ipod
Plus Points
So light
Display is great
16gb
Price is good
The shaky thing to move onto next song is cool
Sound with the apple headphones is very good (was going to invest in better headphones when I bought the nano however I don't think I will bother)
BEST PREZZIE FOR A LONG TIME
My wife and son bought me this for my 45th. What can I say that has not already been said? The pod itself is exquisitly put together and works faultlessly; iTunes allows me to track down some music from my 'distant past' that I thought I would never hear again, and find new stuff that I may never have otherwise heard of.
The downside is the quality of the supplies earphones. I rip my CD's at 320 and these little-white-things are just a pile-of-pooh. Fortunately I own a half-decent pair of Sennheisers which bring the music to life. Next I will buy a pair of Shures, Just don't tell the wife!
Overall a stunning bit of wizardry that makes waiting in my hide, or on an exposed hill-side more pleasurable that it was before. Only problem now is that I have nearly filled the 16GB. Maybe I should also get a Classic!
