Product Description

The title of the album What Men Deserve To Lose is a phrase taken from Derek Cooper’s "Skye":

"Faeries have foibles similar to humans - they can even get drunk. Favourite occupations are spinning, weaving and grinding meal or making faerie arrows. Some faeries are poorer than others, and reading old descriptions of faerie life gives rise to the impression that being a faerie is every bit as tedious as being human. Like rain, faeries usually come from the west and are a thieving lot even though they only take what men deserve to lose".

It is also the title of the fifth album from one of Scotland’s most innovative and popular groups the Peatbog Faeries. Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries have been described as 'the future of Celtic dance music'. Their music mixes traditional roots and folklore with influences from jazz, hip hop, reggae and beyond, to produce a unique contemporary fusion.

The musicians on the new album are Peter Morrison (pipes & whistles), Adam Sutherland (fiddles), Innes Hutton (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals) Tom Salter (guitar), Graeme Stafford (keyboards), Iain Copeland (drums, percussion & programming), Rick Taylor (trombone & vocals). Also: Nigel Hitchcock (alto & tenor Saxophones), Paul Spong (trumpet), Seamus MacLennan (mandola), Calum MacLean (banjo & programming) and John Disco (additional guitar on Nyup).

Another brilliant album from the legendary Faeries! Wonderful to listen to and the brass/woodwind section is amazing. I have this album before its release since i got to see them last night and they were selling it early. Amazing live show, one of the best nights iv'e had in a long time! fully reccommended to anyone who is into world musics. Amazing band, live and recorded! five stars

More magic by the Faeries!5
Another brilliant album. (No.5)

Brilliant sax on Sudden Dilemma.
Usual mix of drum and brass, fiddles, pipes, whistles etc. superbly distilled. Just like a great single malt.

Liked the sleeve notes with pictures of New York, Sydney and a ruined croft on Skye (Ramasaig)

I have listened to it 3 times back to back after it was delivered tonight!
Buy it and enjoy!
Don't lose it though!
Can't wait to see them live in July

Good but...4
I think this is a bit mellower than Croftwork which I preferred - Croftwork being a bit more lively. Still, I enjoyed it though
