The fact book to end them all must be the Children's Miscellany which is the only book I know that can separate boys from their Nintendos.

It is good for people who like knowledge. It is filled mostly with info you never need to know. But occasionly there is a great fact which is really useful.
Brilliant!
I bought this set for my daughter, then 8, last year and she has returned to it over and over. It is a great mix of fun, interesting facts and quirky stuff that will keep any pre-teen (and grown-up) entertained for hours.
Childrens Miscellany
I bought these books for my 10 year old son who has a natural curiosity about things and he is very happy with these books as they contain lots of various bits of information about many many types of things in short detail so is not too hard of tedious.
