It's fine but not for a handsfree phone (Nokia)
I bought this to hook up my Nokia E71 to a decent pair of earbuds (Nokia's are a dreadful fit and keep falling out) however this little gadget, whilst it allows me to hear music etc, will not work with the hands free microphone, so I can't answer calls handsfree when using it, which is a pain.

My adapter didn't have gold contacts either, as per the original review but it certainly does what is says on the tin - it will connect a 2.5mm jack gizmo to a standard 3.5mm jackplug. If that's all you need it for, it's fine.

Compatible with the Nokia E71
I purchased this useful adapter so that I could use 'noise cancellation' headphones (3.5mm jack plug) with my Nokia E71 phone on trains & planes, allowing me to listen to programmes recorded on BBC I-Player in stereo, and it did the job perfectly. Obviously the microphone part of the E71 2.5mm socket cannot be used, but the E71 built-in microphone can be used if you wanted to make a phone call with headphones connected. The speed of delivery and price charged were excellent.

Essential accessory
Does exactly what it says on the tin.
2.5mm jack for many smartphones converting to a 3.5mm socket for standard headphones and audio leads. Personally I prefer the trailing lead to the solid connectors sold by Palm etc.
Gold contacts also a plus.
