Additional Insurance for your luggage
It's the type of thing you buy in the hope that you'll never need it - just like insurance.
A small plastic card with a decent quality strap (not those laminated paper luggage labels that travel agents hand out). It has a barcode on it that you register on their web site. You can also include a description of whatever you've attached it to and a photo if so inclined. Because you can log into this site and change any details you can re-use the labels on anything you wish - just amend the details to keep it updated. The initial purchase includes any fees you'll ever need to pay for this system.
The instructions for registering that come with the card don't quite match what the site requires, but it is easy enough to work out. I suspect the site has been updated recently to make it easier to use.
By supplying your email address and 'phone number the idea is that you'll be notified of the whereabouts of your luggage should it go missing, and they'll know how to contact you to let you know. The labels are apparently recognised by baggage handling companies, law enforcement agencies and lost property services around the world.
Personally I hope mine are never put to the test, but I have had luggage go adrift for a day or two, so feel a little better with this additional insurance.
Edit: I haven't seen many of these tags in my travels, so another advantage I have found is that it is easy, at a glance to tell my suitcase apart from another identical case brought by another traveller.

Proved to work
I have put these Trace Me tags on all my family's luggage after reading an article in an Americal Travel magazine, where a journalist tested them out by leaving his backpack in the overhead locker of a plane with no ID but this tag and had his bag back within 4 hours of the flight! Highly recommended.

Secure feeling
Travel a lot? Allows your bag to be 'Traced' should it get lost. Very easy to register the label. The label itself is very robust and very visible when attached to your luggage. Don't forget to keep a not of the label ID number safe, so if you loose your bag, you can easily trace it.

It's not going to stop your bag getting stolen, but if left anywhere, or lost in an airports luggage system, you will get it back.
