Synopsis
The second and final volume in Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL series is another stylish, sprawling masterwork. VOLUME 2 picks up where the first film left off, as The Bride (Uma Thurman) resumes her quest to track down her former mentor, Bill (David Carradine), and exact revenge. But before she gets to Bill, she must first take out the remaining minions who helped to slaughter her best friends and fiance. First up is Budd (Michael Madsen), a quiet but dangerous country boy who lives in a trailer. Next up is Elle Driver (Darryl Hannah), a one-eyed vixen who doesn't appear to have a heart or a conscience. As The Bride makes her way closer to Bill, scenes from her past are revisited, including her training with the angry and brutal Pai Mei (Gordon Liu). Finally, The Bride locates her man, sparking a truly unforgettable confrontation. In contrast to the nearly dialogue-free first volume, VOLUME 2 is filled with extended conversations that bring the story full circle. Thurman is once again riveting as the determined assassin, while Carradine delivers one of his best performances ever as the sadistic title character. Director of photography Robert Richardson uses a variety of film stocks to great effect, adding even more flair to Tarantino's already eye-popping vision. Rounding out things is an electrifying soundtrack that features original music from The RZA and Robert Rodriguez, as well as songs from Shivaree, Ennio Morricone, and Johnny Cash.

Dialogue-Heavy, Fantastic Film5
This is not the kind of film to show you gran, but equally it's not all action and violence. If you're interested in purchasing Kill Bill Volume 2, it's a safe bet that you've already seen Volume 1 - they are two sides of the same coin but at the same time they are quite different sides. Volume 2 is much more dialogue based and takes its time to move the plot on at its own pace - if you're a fan of Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon a Time in the West' you'll know what I mean. Clearly, Tarantino is also a Sergio Leone fan and his influence is really apparent here and a few subtle and some not-so-subtle references to Leone's films.

There are some exciting action sequences but they are shorter and more sporadic than in Volume 1; the over-the-top, ridiculous gore-fests are pretty much absent here, but there are still some stunning fight sequences.

The soundtrack is much more subtle than in Volume 1 but it is still an excellent soundtrack. As a Blu-ray, the picture quality is very good; being a newer film, there is very little film grain but the picture is still incredibly sharp.

Overall, this is definitely worth watching. If you liked Volume 1, then you'll like this, but if you are only interested in over-the-top action then prepare to be disappointed. It's a fitting conclusion to the storyline and the kind of film that leaves a lasting impact, long after the credits have rolled.

N.B. There are still lingering rumours of "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Saga" - which incorporates both volumes into a single film. While I'm sure this will be the definitive edition to buy eventually, there are no concrete plans to release it yet - the last official statement was from Tarantino himself earlier in the year when he said that it would be out by May 2009. Once it is officially announced with a firm release date, then that is probably going to be the best edition to buy. Until then, buying this and Volume 1 is still a smart move for any Tarantino fan.

Kill bill is already a classic. Sound on blue ray is amazing and the picture cristal clear. I can recommend it to anyone. Should be in anybodies movie collection. the same goes for #1 too. anton Martin
