Generally good: one major failing
I bought this as a replacement for my Epson All-In-One printer. The print quality is very good and it is a lot quicker than the Epson was. It has some irritating features though - the printer throws up error messages when trying to log off that prevent the computer from shutting down. There does not seem to be any way of getting rid of these without delving into programming! Also, it is utterly useless at printing onto sticky labels (I have an HP printer at work with the same problem). They look great on screen, using the templates, but the printer throw is totally out and the addresses end up across the label cracks. NB: Since writing this review, I have found (courtesy of the Avery website) that the printer settings default to 'letter'. Changing this to 'A4' has fixed the problem. Pity HP don't seem to know about this!!
Bargain!
I needed a colour printer for a design brief I was working on, and after having an awful time with an ancient cheap lexmark, I went for this. I figured having a scanner and copier would also prove useful. At this price, £65, this all-in-one is fantastic. So far I've printed many colour copies all of fantastic quality, and no problem with the paper-feed tray (as many have mentioned). It's very easy to set up, and HP provide a fool-proof installation guide. I have mine connected to my router via the ethernet connection (instead of USB) which is an excellent wee add-on. The scanner is brilliant, and transports the image to wherever you want it to go on your PC automatically. Colour copies are excellent too. I made a colour copy of a photo, and the colours weren't quite as vibrant as the original, but still high quality.
The little display screen is very crisp, and easy to navigate.
It comes with a b/w and colour cartridge to get you started, and 3 sheets of 6x4 glossy photo paper to experiment with.
The shape and style of the whole unit is also very pleasing compared to some all-in-ones out there - rounded corners, sleek, and not too bulky.
Highly recommended!
Fantastic value for money
I only bought this as I wanted a compact printer for a home office. Since then I have been impressed by how quiet it is, how well it works networked to my wireless router, and most surprisingly at how much use I get from the scanner - so much so I have retired my little flatbed!
From being an all in one sceptic I would now definitely get one of these types of printer again!
