Great as a Standalone Item
The best thing about this piece of kit is you don't necessarily have to have a computer to use one. It works fantastically as a budget photocopier, the interface is simple, the instruction book won't blow your mind and the ratio of copies you can get to a cartridge is very good value for money. Not only that, you can choose whether to have black and white or colour copies. Excellent for those who want to duplicate their work but are nervous around complicated technology.
The only minor drawback I've found in this item so far is with standalone copying it can take its time to warm up to get prints out but the actual printing time is very quick and the quality top notch. Thoroughly recommended!
Great All-in-One
I bought this printer due to needing its office functions more than needing a photo printer. I chose the MP160 due to the high score it got in Which magazine. Its scores were higher than most twice its price and at £40 who can complain. The downsides were reported as not very fast and noisy which didn't bother me when choosing to buy. Well i have to say that this product is superb and its not noisy at all and seems plenty fast enough. It even has a quiet mode function if you feel the need to use it. It is simple to use and the quality is great. I had previously a Lexmark All-in-One which cost me £100 and rubbish compared to this one, also I found the ink more expensive with Lexmark. For printing photos it is fine, after all if you want to replicate what you get from a photo shop your gonna have to spend a small fortune, I just spend 12p a print if I want a photo to put in a frame. I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing the functions of an All-in-One.
Canon have done a great job for £40 i can barely fault it
I started looking for a new printer when my ancient hp one finally gave up the game. I'm a 14 year old and a pretty average one as far as money goes (ie I have very little,) so the printer had to be affordable. I also didnt want to be spending my hard earned car cleaning cash on a waste of money that did nothing slowly. After reading a few reveiws online and in 'Computer Shopper' magazine I went for this one. It arrived fast considering i had opted for super saver delivery, and the setup was very easy, in fact so easy that I reckon my grandma who has used a coputer about two times could probably have managed it. As far as print qaulity goes, I am impressed for £40. The scaner isnt great but it does the job. I am especially pleased with the black and white printing and copying - it is fast and the text appears smooth and clear. My only major complaint is that the printer seems to spend a lot of time 'thinking' and making funny noises when it is turned on or off. However, this is still no more than a minor irritation and I would wholly reccomend this printer to anyone who is looking for a good value mfp (multi function peripheral incase anyone dosen't know) with decent print results.
