remedy in an emergency5
So great to hear this again. I first heard this on radio in the 80's when I was going through a very difficult time at University, suffering depression and feeling very isolated. Listening in late at night to Stephen's mellifluous buttery voice was a healer, and all the casts' hilarious nonsense melted away my sadness; at least for the night.
A timeless classic that demonstrates again the unique intimacy that radio comedy has always had that TV can often miss out on.

It bears fruit5
Saturday Night Fry (BBC Audio)
This is pure British cleverness, and it hasn't dated. I am entranced; I am personally a tiny bit more entertaining after having listened to this CD, and I am a dull sort. Fry and his colleagues are so witty and fast-paced that you need a few listens to get the best jokes. For some reason I am entranced by Hugh Laurie's "You've met your match, Jennifer Flammisto!"
I can't recommend it highly enough; it's a P.G. Wodehouse level of wit, all brought to your CD player for an at-home cleverness injection. I wouldn't like anyone who didn't like this. So you can give it to all your friends and make them love you even more.

Still funny after all these years.5
If you want to see where the humour of "A bit of Fry and Laurie" came from, then look no further than this. I too remember listening to this at University when it first came out. My most memorable scene was the take on Jim'll Fix it. "Steve Will Do His Level Best to Comply With Your Desires" was pure comedy gold. The trip through Hell was hilarious, despite the fairly obvious forgetfulness joke which whacks you in the face about five minutes before it is made.

Hilarious stuff. I wonder if the TV show they did called Alfesco is also available? I will have to have a hunt...
