Product Description

The first body is a mystery. She's young. She's beautiful. And her corpse, laid out in the office of Boston medical examiner Kat Novak, betrays no secrets - except for a matchbook clutched in one stiff hand, seven numbers scrawled inside. The next body is a warning. When a second victim is discovered, Kat begins to fear that a serial killer is stalking the streets. The police are sceptical. The mayor won't listen. And Kat's chief suspect is one of the town's most prominent citizens. The final body ...might be hers. With the death toll rising, Kat races to expose a deadly predator who is closer than she ever dreamt. And every move she makes could be her very last.

Customer Reviews

Not a new book1
THE ONE STAR IS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON ONLY -
I really wish Amazon would make it clear when a book is published with a different title. I bought this thinking it was new only to find it's fifteen years old. Yes, maybe I should have read the review that states it was originally called 'Peggy Sue Got Murdered' and usually I do but customers shouldn't have to rely on reviews to find out this information. Amazon make a habit of this as I have read many reviews which state the same thing. How hard is it to add 'previously published as'?

As for the book itself, I usually finish a book in a day if it grips me. I bought this last week and am halfway through... It's not that it's not good and I appreciate it was her first novel but her later stuff, e.g. The Surgeon, The Apprentice etc are so brilliant, it can't compare. I do enjoy all her books and would recommend The Mephisto Club and the two mentioned previously. I will finish it as it is enjoyable so I would give the book itself THREE STARS.

Girl Missing4
This is a good read. Maybe not as good as some of her later books, but she was changing over from romance novels to detective/suspense novels. I think that it is well written, and certainly worth buying if you like Tess Gerritsen. The plot was good and the story held my attention to the last page.

First published as "Peggy Sue Got Murdered"4
Please note - this book was first published under the original 1994 title - Peggy Sue Got Murdered.
The book has been slighly updated for the 2009 edition.
