A 'Must Buy' for Sim 2 Fans!!!
Hi,
I am an avid sims 2 fan and an adult player too I will admit.
I just recieved both the Free Time expansion and this guide to go with it. I have to say, there is no way you can really get the most out of this or any of the sims 2 games without one. Simply put, this guide will show you exactly how the new 'free time' concept affects the game play, no matter how much criticism the previous expansions have received, Maxis seem to have tied up all the loose ends with the one. The main aspect of change that I think needs to be studied with this guide is the overhaul to the Aspiration system (it's HUGE) and also how the everyday objects are used to build points in the the new 'hobby enthusiasm' system, (also HUGE).
There are also new objects that are completely explained in this guide and new social interactions that you just have to read about because with 'try it and see' you may never get around to discovering them!
I love this guide, it's the one I find I have used the most out of all and of them and I've only had it a few days. What more can I say without boring you senseless? You must include this in the shopping budget, it's well worth it!!!
have fun........
Incredibly useful, but not all of it was necessary
I have got almost all the Sims 2 Expansions, and I have to admit that some things just confuse me. Although playing the game is fine, the more intricate details of gameplay go right over my head. Without this guide, parts of the FreeTime Expansion Pack would have been almost impossible to understand.
A huge expansion to this game is Lifetime and Secondary Aspirations. This is a complicated change, but by the end of the chapter in this book I could pretty much understand it all. The book also clarifies details about Hobbies and Enthusiasm, both new features for the Freetime game. After details of the new features, the book gives tips and tricks to improve gameplay, very useful if you want to get the most out of your game.
Another great bonus of this book is that it includes details on changes from previous expansions. When choosing careers for my Sims, I like to compare all the careers on offer. A chapter in this book shows information about all the careers from every expansion pack, not just the new ones from Freetime.
A downside to this is that a large portion of the book is taken up with information I will never want or need. An entire chapter is based on giving information about all the objects from every expansion pack (plus the base game) so far. I really don't want to know statistics for every object in the game (there are 42 pages of them), because I can find that out by actually playing the game itself.
Overall, the first half of this book is very useful, but it's a shame I wasted money another 42 pages of object information. If you think you may need help on the FreeTime game, I recommend buying it. The information on gameplay it gives is incredibly useful - even if the object information isn't.
