Editorial Reviews

Album Description
Paradisi Carousel takes Clare in a new direction, whilst
honouring her jazz back-ground, she has evolved musically to reveal a
wealth of hidden riches. The new album sits confidently alongside those of
Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae and Madeleine Peyroux.

Clare's USP is that she is not only a stunning singer, but an accomplished
songwriter, a great wit, a presenter, a columnist and one of the only true
all-round performers in the UK today.

About the Artist
Clare Teal's first album for Sony BMG was released in October 2004, topped the Jazz charts and broke the Top 20 in the pop charts. The album sold just under 40,000 copies. Since that release her career has gone from strength to strength. She has continued to tour prolifically, building a loyal live fan-base across the regions, she has won several prestigious awards, including British Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2005 and BBC Jazz Vocalist of the year 2006, and she has become a popular presenter on BBC Radio 2. She currently hosts Big Band Special and the series Clare Teal's Jazz Divas on the station. Clare also has a weekly lifestyle column in the Yorkshire Post.

LIKEABLE CLARE'S EXPANDED REPERTOIRE HITS ITS TARGET!5
Clare's latest album is less jazz-tinged and more contemporary in approach with some emphasis on five of her own co-written numbers which have melodic flair with BABY, I'M COMING HOME and MISSING YOU aided by backing chorus while the album's title song has an appealing guitar backing. Looking back, there's DON'T LET THE SUN CATCH YOU CRYING -originally a 1964 hit for Liverpool's Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Four Tops 1966 Motown best-seller REACH OUT (I'LL BE THERE) which have now been reinvented as tasteful ballads. The lovely Fran Landesman/Simon Wallace stunner WHAT LOVE KNOWS makes perfect material for Clare's emotive style and I also liked the cha-cha rhythms of ALONE WITH YOU; the soaring and free-wheeling delight LIGHT FLIGHT and the more energetic pacing of BREAKOUT. Clare's voice is never less than brilliant throughout and I award full marks to her musicians and the sparkling arrangements also.

Whilst this album may not wholly satisfy those who prefer her jazz style, I am of the opinion this expanded range of material will broaden Clare's fan-base considerably, with repeat plays certainly gaining kudos for the album's production values and allowing the songs to become familiar and meaningful.

Long Awaited - Not Disappointed5
Fabulous Voice - such a natural singer .. No strained notes at all .. A real pleasure to listen to ..

I adored your "Don't Talk" album which is played over & over & over ..(favs. 'Messin' With Fire' & 'Everything Is You').. Now I can add "Paradisi Carousel" to my playlist, love the title song, it's so dreamy, makes me shiver all over ..

Thank you Clare .. Hope there'll be tons more .. :-)))

Lovely Summer Album5
I have all Clare's albums and have reviewed most of them. I love the jazz stuff but I also love this new collection of Summery songs. Paradisi Carousel is a light and delicate selection of originals and unusual covers. I think the title track is the best song Clare has ever written also lovel Magic Day and the haunting Stay With Me. I haven't heard Light Flight for many years and love this punchy version. This is a great album to drive to or to clean the house to. Wonderful!
