Amazon.co.uk Review
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs opens with the stitched-together prehistoric family about to become a biological one: Manny (voiced by Ray Romano) and his mate Ellie (Queen Latifah) are expecting a baby mammoth. Unfortunately, this makes Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) feel left out. Diego, who worries he’s losing his edge, decides to head out on his own, while Sid adopts three suspiciously large eggs that he’s found through a crack in the ice. Up to this point, the movie is perilously sappy--does anyone, particularly a kid, want to watch a kid’s movie about parenthood and impending middle age? Fortunately, the eggs turn out to be dinosaur eggs from a pre-mammalian underworld, and when the mama T-Rex comes to rescue her rambunctious little ones, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs transforms into a delightful comic adventure. The emotional side of the Ice Age movies has always been a tad mawkish, so it’s smart that Dawn of the Dinosaurs emphasises physical comedy. Clearly, the animators have been inspired by a wild fusion of Road Runner cartoons and Buster Keaton. The character of Scratte, with his non-verbal, monomaniacal efforts to get that last acorn (doubled in this movie with the addition of a female counterpart), is only the most obvious reflection of this sensibility. The animators have great fun with the differences in scale between the mammals and the dinosaurs, and the introduction of a deranged Australian weasel named Buck (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead) pushes everything into Loony-Tune territory. Let Pixar tug at our heartstrings; Ice Age aims to tickle the funny bone and does a fine job of it.--Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com
Synopsis
Manny, Sid, Diego, and Ellie are back in this third film in the computer-animated Ice Age series. With those creatures in starring roles, fans also get another dose of the vocal talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah, who are joined by SHAUN OF THE DEAD’s Simon Pegg. In ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAUR, Manny and Ellie are expecting their first baby, while Sid the sloth tries an unconventional way of starting a family that gets him into trouble. With all this talk of babies, Diego might be losing his saber-toothed edge, but a journey to save Sid may just turn the whole group into heroes. In addition to all that adventure, it wouldn’t be an Ice Age film if Scrat weren’t on a desperate hunt for an acorn, but he might get distracted by a shapely female squirrel.

You want cheering up then buy this.........
My husband and myself nearly did ourselves a mischief as we laughed so much watching this brilliantly made film. Sometimes sequels don't always live up to the hype but in the case of the Ice Ace trilogy the producers just can't do any wrong in my opinion.
The old 'herd' are back together again and there is exciting news on the way for Manni and Ellie. However, Diago and Sid are starting to feel like cuckoos in the nest and Manni's rather blunt remarks don't exactly help poor dimwitted but kindly Sid. Diago meanwhile is feeling his age and he too strikes out on his own.
It is not long however before Sid gets into an inordinate amount of trouble (he wants to be a Mother) and of course 'the herd' go to his rescue ending up in a kind of Dinotopia, only it isn't exactly that! There they meet an totally loopy Weasel who has evidently been on his own too long and has his own personal reasons for staying there.
Scrat, who has to be my favourite character is back again reprising his role as chief nut hunter/loser/finder until one day he meets his Nemesis and possibly his love, Scratte.
This is a hugely enjoyable film suitable for all the family and there is not a dull moment in it. It's also the sort of film that you could watch again and again and still get something out of.
Will there be Ice Age 4? It's possible and indeed I hope it comes to pass.

Manni, Ellie, Diego, Sid, Trash & Eddie are all still here + we now meet Scratte and she knows exactly how to handle Scrat and his acorn. Sid discovers three dinosaur eggs in the frozen underground and when they hatch we meet Egbert, Shelly & Yoko and not far behind their furious mum. When the gang stumble into the other world where dinosaurs rule we meet Buck a deranged hermit weasel who becomes their crazy guide and finally Roodi a very angry large dinosaur that everyone is afraid of. It is also in this world that Ellie gives birth to their daughter Peaches. This is another genuinely good outing for Ice Age, a thoroughly enjoyable film that everybody can watch and the ending leaves it wide open for another .
Great Sequal
Ice age 3 has been very succesfull and worth waiting for.
The visuals on the previous editions are stunning and especially in blu ray. The difference with the standard dvd is worth paying the extras. I wonder only, could AMAZON add if there are other languages available on this bluray ?
