Customer Reviews

Powerful and Beautiful5
..it was the reviews of this album here on amazon that made me buy it.i thought, wow, they really are making this out to be something special, i'll have to give it a go....

i wont bore you but let me just tell you a little story.

i ordered this from amazon.com (along with Porcupine trees 'deadwing' album) about 10 weeks ago, 2 weeks before heading off to thailand. it arrived belive it or not the morning before i left so i had to quickly get it onto minidisc before leaving. i listened to it for a couple of days when travelling, chilling in bangkok etc. until on day 3 of my travels, my minidisc player broke!!! for the last 8 weeks, this album has constantly been on my mind, i only just got slightly familiar with it, yet it made such an impression. As soon as i got back i played it, and i havent stopped playing it for the last 5 days..... (story over)

This album is amazing. Never have i heard a band that can in one song go from such beautiful guitar work and soft vocals to such powerful and meaningful deep chorus's. Track 5 is the best example of this.

Lyrically i was blown away, the first track Same ol' road, i'll have to quote these as its just stunning use of words...

"all we need is a modest house in a modest neighbourhood,
in a modest town where honest people dwell,
making the cleanest energy for greenest plants to grow,
the richest soil that is drenched with the freshest rain..".

i dont know, for me thats special, maybe not everyone but anything positive and fresh like that really uplifts me.

I dont really know track names off this album as you have to just play it through as one epic track, it is afterall a concept album (about sleep paralysis).

i could go on, favourite tracks are 2, 5 & 6 i think but the whole album is amazing. im a huge Incubus fan and my favourite all time album is morning view, but, i almost feel this could top it.

i shall endevour to get "Leitmotif" and "Catch without arms" in due course, ive heard "bug eyes" off the latter of the 2 mentioned and that track really grabs me, its brilliant. Although im not liking the general feel of dissapointment by reviewers of that album.

Just get this album, im sure if your looking at this page/review etc you really wont regret it, anyone remotely into this genre of music is in for a treat here when they hear this band and what they have to offer.

Overwheming5
This album is absolutely incredible, the diverse range of music covered in sixteen tracks is staggering. When I first heard this album I wasn't entirely convinced, I felt that something was missing, but after coming back to it I realise that this is perfection. Whether you listen to the album intently or let it just wash over you, you will realise how beautiful music can be. The one purpose in your life is to buy this masterpeice, its not like anything else and it should be merited on its uniqueness alone. My favourite album, the only thing that can possibly top this is the release of their new album. Buy it now or miss out!

El Cielo - excellent5
The Cd from start to finish astounds me, it is a truely genuine piece of art, that has seen a lot of thought, effort and time. There are subtleties galore, that are amazing, barely noticable, but still adding an element that elevates this Cd to the top of the pile. Every track leads you into the next, leaving you wanting for more. This album is something that needs to be listened to again and again to understand everything thats there. It is an aural bombardment of astounding music that will leave you completly content with the Cd. There is nothing that needs changing, a true masterpiece.
