| With everybody seemingly rushing out to buy the latest High Definition LCD and Plasma HDTV displays it's reasonable to assume that they'll then want to shoot their movie projects in HD as well. The year 2007 saw an explosion in the availability of HD camcorders from all the major makers, and so there's no shortage of products to fill this page. HD comes in several varieties and formats, but mainly you're looking at either tape-based HD (such as HDV) or HDD, DVD or Flash Memory Card formats - of which AVCHD is now the most popular and offers what is arguably the best recording and playback quality. Sony, Panasonic and Canon offer excellent AVCHD products, whilst Sony and Canon offer HDV tape models that (in some cases) will record and playback MiniDV as well. Remember that makers will not include HDMI connecting cables - required for HDTV display - though they will often provide Component Digital cable connectors, which are OK.
