Product Description

Every day, all over the world, millions of people, young and old, live with the harsh realities of rape and sexual abuse. Many of them believe they are alone in coping with a range of feelings from isolation and helplessness to guilt and low self-esteem.

But they are not alone.

The Survivor's Guide is for every one who is affected by abuse issues – whether a survivor themselves, a friend, relative, health professional or counsellor. It offers helpful and friendly advice that can be used in everyday situations to encourage survivors to work through the emotions that they feel and to develop a wonderful vision for themselves of the person they want to be and the life they want to live - not just making do with surviving.
This book features a collection of unique illustrations to portray the stories of survivors of rape or sexual abuse in easy-to-read chapters.

Funded purely by goodwill and donations, The Survivor’s Guide is the result of an ambitious campaign by a team of volunteers at UK support group RoSA (Rape or Sexual Abuse Project) who were frustrated by the lack of self-help literature for abuse victims worldwide.
It was written and produced with the backing of professional women’s organisation Soroptimist International of Rugby, UK, who fundraised tirelessly for a year to get the project off the ground.

A Book which meets the real needs of female & male survivors5
Trying to answer the many question survivors have about their own unique experience of abuse, and then supporting them to take the amazingly brave steps needed to begin the process of recovery, isn't an easy task, within the confines of one book. What the Survivor's Guide achieves, is the delivery not only of illumination on many of the questions that survivors have. But it achieves that aim whilst retaining the authentic insight that comes from a deep understanding of the complex nature of recovery . If you're a survivor, professional or friend this book will give you many of the answers - it will go a long way towards mapping many of the options and pathways recovery can follow for an individual survivor. Its strength lies in the fact it speaks from front-line knowledge, gained whilst working with recovering survivors who found their own way to recovery. It powerfully bridges the often over academic nature of many books written for survivors and talks about how it really is to take the first steps in recovery - truely empowering

Highly recommended reading5
The Survivor's Guide is a superbly illustrated, heart-warming, and empowering book. It speaks directly and empathically to the survivor, and offers constructive ideas intended to help survivors on their healing pathway. Most importantly, it demonstrates that breaking free from the painful shackles of rape and sexual abuse is possible.

For survivors, the book is a must-read. In addition, it is a valuable resource for anyone supporting a survivor, whether on a personal, voluntary, or professional level.
