Editorial Reviews

Review
A good updated and expanded edition of this well received book. I would recommend it to practice teachers/mentors/supervisors etc, both to understand their learners' sources and as a teaching resource; also for their own CPD. --Principal Lecturer, Anglia Ruskin University

This is a valuable resource for students in preparation for work with children and their parents. I welcome the focus on family and work with children on a clear value line and within a legal context. --Lecturer, Bangor University

Concise overview of legal and political context that informs social work with children and families. Excellent introduction for trainee social workers and professionals in health and early years. I also like the reference summary boxes which are well documented, which helps busy people who don't have time to sift through a wealth of literature. --Lecturer, Swansea Metropolitan University

Customer Reviews

Adequate - could do better3
Like most of the books in this series these are good general base knowledge books. It covers the information in a simple to read format and simple enough language. Personally I thought this book was too surface level and too general and I used it very little, mainly just as a quick reference. If you really are starting from scratch and you need a book to spell out the basic principals to you then this is the book for you. If you like to think a little deeper and are aiming for a high mark you may need to look else where. The price, as texts go is however quite attractive and this is probably the reason why I bought it.
