2-year Warranty

The FlexCare comes with a 2-year warranty, but remember to replace your brush head at least every three months for optimal results.

Philip’s Smartimer® Technology encourages Doctor recommended 2-minute brushing time

Your Philips HX6932/10 Soincare toothbrush comes with smartimer, which encourages 2-minute brushing as recommended by dental professionals. The Smartimer automatically stops your Sonicare toothbrush after the dentist-recommended brushing time of 2 minutes has elapsed. If you switch the toothbrush off at any time during the brushing cycle, for instance to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer interrupts its timing and resumes where it left off when you switch the appliance back on again.

Although a 2-minute brushing session is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the toothbrush at any time by pressing the power button. When the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a complete 2-minute brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for more than 45 seconds.

Philip’s Quadpacer® 30-second interval timer encourages even brushing

Philip’s HX6932/10 Quadpacer feature beeps at 30-second intervals during the 2-minute brushing period, telling you when to move the toothbrush to the next section, thus making sure that you brush all sections of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. The Quadpacer takes the guesswork out of when to move the brush from the outside of the teeth to the inside, and from the upper teeth to the lower teeth.

Pearly Whites!5
My lovely new brush arrived last week, and I have been buzzing with mouth related joy ever since! The initial zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz of the thing is starting to wear off, but when you first use it it feels like there are a dozen bees brushing your teeth for you (with out the stinging, of course....). My teeth felt clean and fresh, and even after several hours they didn't develop that fuzziness that they can sometimes get around the molars. I'm a smoker, and I like my coffee and red wine, so my teeth are little stained and yellow I guess, but this toothbrush has already started to make a difference to that, with a definite improvement in whiteness.
The UV sanitizer and chargeing dock are big bits of kit which are a bit intrusive and take up a lot of space, so are not recommended if you are struggling for space in your family bathroom. I don't actually have a plug in my bathroom so this sits outside in the kitchen alongside my electric razor! Its pretty functional looking and is not particularly nice to have on display, but what toothbrush is?? It will be nice when designers of these soprts of things start to realise that people like nice looking gadgets, even if they do the most mundane of jobs!

Now, my parents had a bad experience with a similar model to this - in the space of a week they cracked 5 teeth between them. It turns out that for older types of fillings these sonic toothbrushes can have a pretty bad effect - my dad lost half his front tooth! So I would only recommend these if your teeth are strong and, if you have fillings, they are less than 15 years old - not a medical opinion BTW so ask your dentist. Mum and Dad obviously took there toothbrush back and could probably have sued for a fortune, until they realised there was something in the fine print about this. God bless disclaimers, eh!

Anyway, this is a powerful and pleasent feeling brush which has a great effect. Your dentist can offer you better whitening but at 3 times the price, and it only lasts so long. For a long-term solution, the Philips Sonicare is recommended, if your teeth are man enough to cope!!!

Dental mosquito5
A word of warning-Before you get to try out your new toy, it needs 24 hours for a full charge (who would want to fail to condition a rechargeable battery at that price?). Also don't forget a 2-pin to 3-pin adapter if you don't charge from your bathroom socket. Replacement "proresults" brush packs available HX6013/02- 3 pack, HX6011/02-single. Bit pricey, but they claim they last for 3 months each. Before powering up, set the programme from a choice of 5 vertical lights with the lower button.

I think it's best to split this review into:

1. Why buy an electric toothbrush?
Frankly I've been using a Braun/Oral B for so long that I lack the muscles to go back to hand brushing. You trade off the buzz of the motor for a vast improvement in dental hygiene.

2. Why buy a sonic toothbrush?
According to a quick web search, the sonic toothbrush combines the usual motorised brush action with "turbulent fluid dynamics". In short all that saliva and toothpaste sloshes around and scours the plaque off your teeth and can shoot effective cleansing eddies up to 4mm from the brush head, which penetrate BETWEEN the teeth. After 3 goes I'm totally hooked. The cleansing feeling is much more intense than anything my normal Braun produced. However the sound of the thing is -well like a very hungry mosquito. You have to perform precise oral gymnastics to keep the supercharged froth in your mouth, while trying to avoid the back of the brush from touching either your lips or gums- otherwise you'll be buzzing for hours. Good job it gradually steps up in intensity on an initial learning programme over 14 sessions. Normally I have to floss to remove plaque and bits of starchy gunk out from between my now middle aged teeth. Everything had been shook loose by the sonic buzz today. Usualy I hate enforced programmes- but the concept that you split your mouth into 4 sections- upper outer/inner, lower outer/inner and the timer takes you through each section with a slight tone wiggle to tell you when to move on (finally mercifully shutting down at the end) worked well for me. I tried the small head first (as I'm used to little brush heads) but reverted to the larger one which I found far more comfortable with its strangely arched shape which matches the contour of each tooth.

3.Why shell out oodles for this particular model?
This is the trickiest one to answer. If it's a case of why buy this toothbrush as opposed to the Philips HX9552 of smilar price- go for this one- it's a Li-ion battery as opposed to the older Nicad type. There's a few scattered moans in previous web reviews about Philip's batteries only lasting for two years (same length as their warranty)- the Li-ion might solve that. My 3 Brauns have lasted much longer than 2 years each, but I do tend to fully discharge them between charges.

If it's a case of why not buy the cheaper pack without the UV sanitiser- buy this one. The UV charger case is a brilliant concept if your brush is going to sit in your bathroom for 3 months- come on do you want all that environmentally enhanced plaque going back into your mouth? Disturbingly the instructions have to warn you to switch the thing off if it gives off smoke or a burning smell while operating- thankfully my first tryout worked fine, but I didn't leave it to its own devices.

I still have the jitters about whether I would spend a hundred quid on something that doesn't play music or make me coffee. This is a freebie and I've spat on it now so they won't want it back! The cheaper Philips models seem to just offer normal and gentle mode. The oscillating speed, the 4 tier cycle and the graduated battery indicator seem to be standard. Sonic cleaning is rather a shocking sensation- so if you have any doubts- try out the bargain branded product and see if it is for you. Now I've got it I am a sucker for the 3 main optional programmes- Go Care 1 minute, Clean mode, and the all singing and dancing Max Care routine- which gives you 30 seconds of tooth cleansing and 15 seconds of gum massaging at a lower frequency per tooth sector. Looks like I'm stuck on the trendy toothbrushes for life now.

test update- after a week and a half I HAVE got more used to the sonic buzz sensation- it it just a matter of time- just like it says in the instructions.

Much better than lower cost rivals5
Once you've gotten used to an electric toothbrush there's no going back. No matter how much elbow grease you apply when using an old fashioned manual brush, your teeth never seem to feel as clean and polished.

I've been using a Braun Oral-B Professional 7000 for sometime, but that costs only a third as mush as this Sonicare. You soon realise you're using a high end product.

The first thing you notice is that the brush heads are of a far simpler design than the Braun Oral-B which seem to have become ever more elaborate over time. The next thing is just how much the Sonicare tickles, but that sensation soon passes with regular use. The third thing was just how much cleaner - and I go as far as to say dentist polished - your teeth feel.

There's also a gum massaging mode that actually feels quite nice. It leaves your gums with a gentle ache, like they've just had a workout. Gum massage is supposed to increase blood flow, firm up gum tissue and help prevent gum disease. It's something to do once in a while and there are sensitive and quick modes as well.

The travel bag would be great if it had room for the toothbrush and the travel recharger, but this is the only flaw in the package.

I'd say this is much better than its lower cost rivals and well worth the additional investment.
