Comprehensive and fun for a long weekend5
The top 10 theme works very well. There are the top 10 sights in Rome (eg. Pantheon, Colosseum etc) then there is a top 10 within each of those (ie top 10 sights at the Pantheon) - with full descriptions/details. It works so much better than the usual rambling descriptions you get in guide books. There is a top 10 Roman foods (Saltimbocca at number 1 - v. good) and wines - and numerous other categories. Full of very good photos and plenty of detail. Fun to use and authoritative. The maps were excellent. The book is very handy - fits easily into a pocket. It was preferable to a larger DK Rome guide which a friend happened to bring, in terms of accessing information quickly and easily. I hope they publish a lot more of the top 10 guides!

An excellent pocket sized, succinct but exciting Roman tour!4
All you could ever need to know about a trip to Rome - there information on how to get there, what to do there, how to survive there ... how to get the most from your trip to Rome.
The book is usefully split into guides of various areas of Rome, as well as listings and reviews of restaurants, hotels and hostels.
The guide is written in a very personal style which can occasionally be a little too cynical, but on the whole this made the whole process more charming.
I couldn't stop reading the book I was so engrossed - but it turned out to be easily dipped into on my actual trip as well - a definite must.

A must for all going to Rome!5
I have just been to Rome and i took this handy little book with me. I was only there for four days but i ate in a few of the recommended restaurants and they were all fantastic. The book also recommended the best ice cream in Rome and it really was the best ice cream i've ever had!! - anyone going to Rome really has to go there!!
All of the top sites were magnificent however i don't think its really necessary for the book to point out that you should go to the pantheon and colleseum etc! If you're looking for a guide to the history of each of the sites then i would suggest taking a book that specifies in this.
I used the book mainly for eating out as i always find it difficult to spot nice, less touristy restaurants in a new city. It also has the bus routes which are really handy, a small map of the city (not much detail of smaller streets) and some useful phrases and tips.
Overall a very good buy and highly recommended for anyone going to Rome. =)
