Simple and easy to follow pocket guide5
I found this guide perfect for a short break in Amsterdam. As the title states it recommends the top 10 restaurants, places to stay, bars to drink, museums and art galleries and many more, with an easy to follow grid referencing system (and clear, easy to read maps at the front and back). I visited many of the suggested top ten places and without this guide you would probably never stumble across such stylish yet reasonably priced bars or restaurants, not to mention unusual design/antique shops.

I take a top ten guide with me to every new place I visit- I swear by them. However, be warned, the guide recommends such nice restaurants that you might have to book in advance as they are so popular with the locals!

Amsterdam with the kids4
OK we had two young kids with us and couldn't test the nightlife but we had a lot of fun and this guidebook helped in no small way. For four days we covered many of the main sights on foot, on the water and by tram. It's a fairly easy place to get around but if you want to get the most out of it a guide like this is incredibly useful. It's clear, up-to-date and even pocket-size. At this price it offers real value. We've just picked up the guides for Venice, Paris, London, New York and Barcelona. Just wish they'd get around to writing books for Copenhagen, Brussels and Athens...........

A MUST HAVE GUIDE FOR SHORT STAY TOURISTS5
Amsterdam isn't just about those infamous 'cafes', it is amazing for those arty types like myself who enjoy visiting galleries, eating fine food and drinking in funky bars. I found this guide to be very informative and easy to use with clear and easy to read pull-out maps, helping my friends and I find the most trendy bars and restaurants in town- it turned into our bible for our short stay in Amsterdam. I have just purchased the same guide for Barcelona (even although I have been before I am sure this will prove to be invaluable as well).
