Units work fine but software needs a helping hand to install
This review would have received 5 stars if the included software on CD had installed correctly. In common with reviewers on Amazon of the 'twin pack' of the same Home Plug, the software fails to install and complains about a missing 'ini' file. I bought single units because at the time of ordering it was cheaper to buy two singles than a twin pack!

If you want, you can run the units straight out of the box and they will see one another and work. However, without the software you cannot password protect the units or change the network name away from the default 'HomePlug'. This may not bother some people but one of the useful parts of the software is a monitor which reports the quality of each link and what speed each unit is connected at. This is useful information because it is affected by distance, interference and other 'noisey' items plugged into nearby sockets.

You CAN install the software, but NOT by selecting that option from the CD autorun menu. Browse to the CD instead (I'll assume your CD drive is E:) and copy the files and subfolders from the E:\software\HomePlug directory to an empty directory on your hard drive. Browse to your new directory and click on 'setup.exe' in there. The software installs correctly and you can learn how to drive it from the PDF document on the CD. Good luck.

The units work well in my 4 bedroom house with the furthest unit still managing a speed of 61 Mbps. They perform as well as a pair of Peak Powerline units I used previously and perhaps not surprisingly the software interface is almost identical.

Does EXACTLY what it should
I read lots about Powerline 'not giving the speed quoted', but this one REALLY does. My XBOX-360 is too far from my router for wireless (can't even get a signal) so I tried Max Value (85Mbps) twin pack (cheaper than an Xbox wireless adapter), and ended up with 75Mbps - more than enough for streaming video, or downloading from Xbox LIve! So, I replaced another wireless connection (where I was getting 11-30 Mbps) with Max Value (85Mbps), and have a constant 65-68Mbps (and this was with it plugged into a jo-jo, which is not recommended!). It makes a difference where you plug in the one connected to the router - but with the monitoring software supplied, it is easy to find the best speed. I highly recommend this. It works easily (just plug in as many adapters as you want and they just work) and the software is very simple to find the best power points to use - just move them until it shows the best speeds.
This is home networking the way it SHOULD be. Easy, speedy and needing no technical knowledge at all. Why pay a premium price when this 'does it all'?

Plug and go
As the other 2 reviews, bought 2 of these items individually as it was a fair amount cheaper than the twin pack. When received they were plugged in straight away and worked immediately....I haven't bothered with the software at all and I'm not overly bothered with checking speeds etc.
I live in a 4 bed house and the units are placed at the furthest away points they could be. They are working superbly and, to me anyway, they are faster than the wireless that runs in the rest of the house. The wireless couldn't reach the points where I use the powerline products, I believe because of the 2ft thick walls and layout.
