Mysims back on form!5
I love mysims but with the last game, i was disappointed for a few reasons- firstly, you had to second guess most of the time, the mini games were either too easy or really difficult (the ski jump and the canooing were impossible to get gold on) and generally i felt it was missing some of the original magic. I was reluctent to get this, but in the end, i decided to give it a try, and i'm really glad i did!

Like the previous two games, you arrive in a town and have to help it back on it's feet. Unlike the first two games, here you have to get people to move in by playing in 12 different festivals and 40 minigames. First, you choose your mysims gendre, then the usual haircuts and colour for eyes etc, but there's more choice this time round. Then you're asked to chose the stats you want to have. These are power, speed and technique. You have six points to play around with so use them wisely as you can't change them afterwards. You then get shown around your town (unlike the first two which is nice) and enter the first festival. After this, you are free to meet the locals and take it at your own pace. There are a few reasons why i love this game:

Firstly, you meet characters from the first and second mysims games on the ds, but you also meet some characters that were only on the wii/pc versios, which is nice for those who haven't played these versions. I liked all the characters and they all have different personalities and looks!

The look of the game is polished and this time, when you hold down the B button, you run straight away! This was one of the biggest niggles of the last two games but it finally seems it has been sorted out- horray!

The mini games are varied and require a little bit of thinking, which is always a good thing! It makes you think about how quickly to turn a folk or to trace a symbol very carefully. I also like the fact that there are four settings- weak, normal, strong and powerful. It really seems they've thought about their audience and understand the age range that play this game. So, far, i've only tried it on weak, but in the later festivals, they seem to get stronger (but not too much that you can't win!). It allows people to get used to the mini games then challenge themselves by going to the next strength level. You can also practive the mini games and try to beat your best scores. They use all features of the ds which is a nice touch too. You also have festival cards which make it more interesting to play and tactics are required to survive and win.

The game has clocked up 15 hours to complete all the festivals and do most of the tasks set by the townspeople, but i still have to buy quite a few more items and get a few more sims to be my friends. I played this over a lazy weekend so for those who don't have much time on their hands, this will last a while. I've played much more hyped up titles and they haven't been half as good, half the gaming time and half the replay value.

There is a wide variety of clothes and hairstyles to collect, but this time you can also change the outside of your house, which is good- it's fun to mix and match different house parts and have a unique house to go home to!

When playing the mini games, you can either use the sims you befriend, or create your own team. So far, i've saved 10 sims, which i think is good!

There are one or two things which would have made the game perfect:

The inside of your house is decorated and you can't change it. This would have been a nice addition but i like the inside of the house anyway so it's not a big deal.

Although the festivals are fun, it's hard to get the money needed for different house parts and other things. Some of the later items are expensive and take a long time to get. Although the later festivals offer more money, by the time you buy the cards, you don't have much left. Maybe getting some money from doing some jobs? I feel maybe adding fishing and digging for treasure could have helped.

Overall, i feel the game has got it's magic back. A lot of reviews have been unfair and harse and it seems they have forgotten that a game should be fun to play and not just about blowing things up and killing. When i play a game, i want fun and just to escape, which i can do with this game. I sometimes wish i was a mysim so i could go to my town and have a relaxing and fun holiday! A good fun game which is also challenging too!

sims racing4
just brought this for kids but feel adults would enjoy too. can't get my son away from it. wasn't sure if it would be good as found " my sims kingdom " not good to play at all.

Not the best2
I love mysims on the ds- i think it's a really fun series and enjoy the games in general, so when i heard this was coming out, i couldn't wait. I read some reviews (finding them was difficult) but all were positive and i got the game.

The story shoud be familiar by now- the new sim in town (you) has to bring speedsville back to its former glory by competing in races. You can upgrade your car by obtaining blue prints plus change the way you look.

The game itself is split into story mode, quick races and multiplayer. The quick races are basically racing tracks you have unlocked and the multi player allows you to play with people locally or through the wi-fi (something which isn't available on the wii version). The story mode is split into three main tasks: driving in races, the stunt challenges and completing tasks given by the townfolk (these are usually driving to a destination or collecting something, with both having against the clock challenges occasionally)

As seen in my other reviews, i really enjoyed playing the first three mysims games. However, this game feels.. average. I feel very dissapointed because it seems the was for nothing. The reason for this is as follows:

The car is quite hard to handle. When i first played it, i was all over the place and hitting the side of the road. I would also drive into others driving, but they would just drive into you, so you have to reverse before they move. A bit sily really.

The tasks can be boring. The townfolk only have two requests: to take them to a specific place or to collect items. Some are timed but these are very few and far between. I feel more of these would have made the game more exciting (infact, there were no timed challenges during the third star level). Also, they could have included track challenges (do a lap under 1 minute, collect items while racing etc) as this again would have boosted the replay value.

Although you do obtain blue prints, they rarely make a difference. There is a slight improvement with the different engines and frames, but the others are purely for decoration. Why not make use of them (e.g- collect a power up for the bat wings so you can fly etc).

The tracks are not difficult to beat- i only had to re-race one three times, and that was the last one. Infact, star level 4 only has one track and it is very difficult (so no good for the little ones). I also feel twelve tracks is a bit of a rip off. It is also sometimes difficut to see where you are driving, even with the map down the bottom, it is sometimes useless. This does make it slightly more challenging but you should see where you're going at least.

I'm now on star level five (took me two days to get to this and complete the master stunt challenges, overall playing time about 7 hours) but i still have some blue prints which need to be made into items. It seems the only way to get extra coins is by collecting all the green boxes as you don't win coins for coming first in a race after you've completed it once (a little unfair i feel). It is a real anti-climax when you reach star level 5- i have completed the stunt challenges and done all the favours for people and then nothing. No "well done you've finished the game" despite collecting all the blue prints- nothing. As i said, i can try to obtain extra coins in the green boxes, but they have so few in them (mostly 5- 6 coins) it would take me ages to get what i need (most items require alot of one coins, especially character cars), and to be honest, after playing each track twice, i don't really fancy playing them again, especially with not being able to see where you're going.

I have tried the wi-fi connection but it seems no one else out there has this game, so i can't even tell you if the mulitplayer wi-fi is good (no else i know has this game)

The graphics are a step back i feel, compared to the last game. They remind me more of mysims kingdom! Although they characters are fun in their own way, they could have been made a little better. Also, why all the surroundings but you can't leave your car (apart from your house and the garage)? To me, it seems a waste.

I feel that maybe they should have waited to release this. Releasing three mysims games in a year seems too much to me- maybe they should have stuck at mysims party (a very good game by the way) and maybe release this a bit later on with better graphics and better gameplay. Out of all the mysims games, this is my least favourite and i don't think i will play this again. Children will probably enjoy it but they may become frustrated by how the car handles and the top screen. Also, like many people, i can't help but comapre this to mario kart- it seems very simular to mario (in terms of environments and some power ups) but mario kart is a lot more fun and you have a better chance to compete in wi-fi mode. I'm glad they're trying something new but to me, this doesn't make the grade- the wii version is said to be better and a lot more fun plus more to do. If you want to try it, borrow it first or wait a few months to go into sale- there are much better racing games out there. Overall, a disapointing effort from mysims and ea.
