They don't make them like this anymore!!5
I first saw this film about 10 years ago and it blew me away then just as it does now. I have been searching ever since to find a copy and was told it was no longer being made. Couldnt believe it when i saw it today. Am definatly going to buy in a minute!! Its the kind of film which should have a "leave at least 2hrs before driving your vehicle" warning label on the case. Burt Reynolds plays the lead role and is very funny also other old faces like ex-rat pack Sammy-Davis-Junior and very attractive blonde and brunettes along the way.
Fairly simple plot. A race across America, the winner collecting a million dollars. Loads of adventures en-route and fumbles with the law a'la speeding fines. The opening scene though has to be my personal favourite. The music is cheesily good. They definatly do not make em like that anymore!!!! I wont give anymore away. Just buy it now or lose it forever!!!!My rating got to be a high-five!!!!

Can't help liking it!4
It is easy to forget that in the 70's Burt Reynolds was a HUGE star and the CB radio was on people's Xmas present lists. Along with Smokey and the Bandit, the Cannonball Run shows Reynolds at his entertaining, larger than life, macho best. I shouldn't like this film but I do. Silly, bawdy, un-PC but laugh out loud funny with people like Sammy Davis Jr and Roger Moore obviously having a whale of a time. It looks as if they all had great fun making this film, and it shows in the performances. My favourite characters have to be Dom Deluise as Captain Chaos, and especially, the Doctor. I can't help it, whenever he appears in the film and that music starts to play I just crack up laughing. I think of films like this as the American equivalent of Carry On films, part of you cringes at them but part of you loves them for their irreverence and their ability to encapsulate a particular time and place in our culture. If you like this film you must check out Smokey and the Bandit because Jackie Gleason is a joy as the evil Buford T Justice..

A true classic5
Slapstick comedy and a host of gorgeous cars combine to make this a must have movie.

Harks back to a bygone era where political incorrectness was unheard of, cars were loud 'n fast, and every international stereotype in the book applied. But this isn't a serious movie - instead it's a funny, fast moving riot of comedy which has its tongue firmly in cheek.

The film is full of classic lines which, once you have seen the movie, just keep making you smile. To list them all would be impossible, but I just love Roger Moore as the suave James Bond-a-like English aristocrat muttering down the CB mike "If you're going to converse on this wireless, at least be good enough to use the Queen's English".

The whole cast shine. Whether it's Jackie Chan, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett or the brilliant Sammy Davis Jnr, they all pull off this incredible storyline brilliantly. As feel good movies go, they don't get much better.
