One fifth of Britain's hottest girl group, super-WAG, "X Factor" judge and all round celebrity, Cheryl Cole has been a runaway success since her first appearance on "Popstars: The Rivals". In this intimate biography, Gerard Sanderson takes an insightful and sensitive look at Cheryl's life and her whirlwind rise to the top, and why it hasn't always been easy: including her ambitious early life; the notorious assault court case; her life as a WAG; the true dynamics of the band; and, her turbulent marriage to footballer Ashley Cole. Cheryl has endeared herself to millions of loyal fans all over the world, and her first year as an "X Factor" judge was a huge success when one of the acts Cheryl mentored, Alexandra Burke, was crowned winner. Published for the first time in paperback this autumn, the new edition features new photographs and updated chapters on all the backstage gossip from last year's competition. A great gift for any Cheryl fan, "Cheryl Cole: Her Story" lifts the lid on the fascinating life of one of Britain's most famous and glamorous women.

Cole Comfort
At one time people who had achieved something in life would write about it, or have someone write about them. Such books were usually worth reading, this one isn't. Indeed, it's a miracle that the author managed to stretch out such a string of banalities over 249 pages when half a dozen would have been sufficient.
At 25 Cheryl Cole has achieved some success as a singer with Girls Aloud, a manufactured pop group scoring numerous "hits", - none of which spring readily to mind. In the process she moved from North East to South East marrying a professional footballer on the way.
This book reflects the artificiality of those achievements which confuse fame with being well known. Gossip isn't history and history consists of something more substantial than this celebrity centred pap. Good grief, Cheryl and Ashley nearly got married at the same venue as Jordan and Peter!!!! The world would have stopped turning had that disaster befallen it and the newly married Coles would never have made a profit from selling the wedding pictures to a celebrity magazine.
As a youngster Cheryl Tweedy, as she was then, enjoyed showing off, something her parents encouraged. As a teenager she attracted the boys, "she had the most perfect face, great legs and a fantastic backside" was one ex-boyfriend's intellectual evaluation. At other times she fought with them and was suspended from school for using bad language, a characteristic she seems never to have fully lost.
Of course Cheryl these days is contributing to the welfare of society as a judge on the X Factor. How the nation managed without her "incredible warmth" is a mystery which will exercise the finest of minds for decades to come. For anyone who likes the X Factor, celebrity gossip and modern pop music, this book reaches their level. Whether that is down or up is a judgement I shall leave to others.
Cheryl Cole: Her Story
A very interesting book with a lot of information on the national treasure, but the fact that Sanderson got something as simple as Cole's date of birth wrong makes you wonder how accurate the rest of the book actually is.
