Manufacturer's Description
Sshh Don't Wake Dad is a fun action game for children of all ages and for 2 to 4 players. Be the first to sneak past Dad as you try to get to the fridge for a midnight snack. Take turns to spin the spinner, move your play figure around the board and try not to land on the alarm clock which may wake up Dad and move you back to the start of the board.
The Sshh Don't Wake Dad board is very simple to set up: simply place the Dad figure into the bed, put the nightcap on his head and lay him down. You will then hear him snoring as he peacefully sleeps. Each player then chooses a coloured play figure. Shuffle the 16 cards and deal an equal number to each player. Keep these cards throughout the game. If there are only three players, then each gets five and the last card isn't used. Position your figure on the matching coloured bed. The youngest player goes first and play continues anti-clockwise around the board. When it's your turn, spin the spinner; it has four different colours and 2 purple stars.
If you spin:
A Colour: Move your figure onto the first available space of that colour. Note: If your figure lands on a space that is already occupied, move it to the next free space ahead (even if it means you win the game).
A Purple Star: Move your figure one space ahead of the leading player’s figure (even if it means you win the game). If you are already the leader, spin again. If there are no other players on the track, move to the first space on the track.
If you land on a space with a picture and a number: Check your cards. If you find the same picture on a card in your hand, you are safe; you don't have to press the alarm clock and your turn is over. If you don’t have the matching card, you must push down the alarm clock button as many times as indicated on the space. If Dad continues to sleep..."Phew!" you’ve got away with it, and your turn is over. But if you make a noise....."Oh No!"...Dad wakes up and you must do two things:
1. Collect the matching card from the player who has it (so if you land on that spot again, you’ll be safe) and...
2. Go all the way back to your own bed at the start of the track! (Remember, all is not lost - if you spin a purple star, you’ll jump to the front). Now, once again put Dad’s nightcap on his head and over his eyes, push him back down and send him back to sleep. He will begin to snore and the next player can take their turn. When you’re near the end of the track and there are no more track spaces left of the appropriate colour, you move onto the rainbow space--because it has all the colours in it. The first player to land on the Rainbow Refrigerator space is the winner. Don’t eat too much.
The bed doubles as storage for the playing figures and game cards so the game can be neatly packed away at the end of the game. To conserve battery life, Sshh Don't Wake Dad will automatically switch off after approximately 5 minutes of continuous sleep. Sshh Don't Wake Dad is suitable for ages 4 years+. 2 x AA batteries required.

Solid construction......at last....it works....
Tomy has solid construction....a rarity in toys thesedays. It all fits neatly back in the box....Dad really does pop back up again and doesn't break.
The children enjoy playing it....at last a toy I don't regret purchasing.
Fun game for all ages
This is a well made, quality game. The pieces all fit back in the box nicely without making it bulge as happens with most of this type of game.
The gameplay is simple but fun, and a bit different than most games. There's not a rule book the size of a novel which you need to take out time to read before playing while the kids get more and more fidgety waiting to play. Each game doesnt last forever either, which is a definate bonus in my book!
Definately recommend this game!
A great game for all ages
We love this game because even our 2 year old can (sort of) join in as there's no counting involved, you just proceed by colour (so educational only until they have learnt their colours).
The box isn't as thick as it could be, but it does all sit in nicely and there's even a storage drawer under the bed, to keep all the bits in.
