Bestselling author and chain mail expert Dylon Whyte presents his time-tested, time-saving techniques with over 30 breathtaking projects, ranging from the simple to the challenging. A thorough introduction, illustrated with computer-generated pictures, covers the basics of chain mail techniques. Then Whyte reveals his patented, perfected beading method: rather than using difficult wire-wrapping, he threads the beads directly onto the rings before they're fashioned into chain mail. This exciting collection of 30 projects includes a delicate Persian patterned anklet, embellished with tiny silver bells; an amethyst opera-length necklace; and silver earrings shaped like inverted peacock features, edged with rings and turquoise beads.

Beautiful book!
I've been mailling for about 8 months now and I recieved this book yesterday and as yet I haven't got around to actually making anything but flipping through the book filled me with the type of inspiration I haven't had for a while. The author includes the usual chain maille weaves, such as Byzantine but he also includes some slightly more complex ones, such as Persian, Spiral and one of his own design which he calls Rings Of Saturn. It may or may not be his brainchild but I've certainly never seen it before. It's not so much the weaves he uses in this book, however. It's all about the way he incorporates beads into his designs, and I tell you he has some really fresh ideas! I've also never seen chain maille used as bails for pendants or as zip pulls. He also shows you how to chain around a cabochon which is something I've never seen explained in clear terms. The photography is stunning and the designs are simple yet very effective. I am so glad I decided to splash out on this book. It's my favourite book in my beading library, along with his other book, a collaboration with Terry Taylor which focuses more on the actual weaves although I must say, this one does feature a weave or two not seen in the other one. Anyway, anyone with even a fleeting interest in Chain Maille should buy this book immediately, you will not regret it!!
Ideal for beginners
I bought this book as a complete novice to chain maille. I was torn between two books, but ultimately chose this one, firstly because it was cheaper, and secondly, because it incorporated beads into the designs, which are my primary skill in jewellery making. I was not disappointed: this book contains loads of projects with varying difficulty, and they definitely have the 'wow' factor. The projects give beginners a good start in this technique, and any further techniques can be learnt using web resources.
Beaded Chainmaille Jewellery
Superb book - clear instructions making difficult looking weaves/projects extreamly easy to make. Only downside is the ID's are in Imperial measurements and difficult to obtain in UK
