Product Description

This practical and easy-to-use book allows you to start making wonderful necklaces, bracelets, brooches, rings, earrings and more, even if you have never so much as picked up a pair of pliers before. Large, clear photographs guide you every step of the way, from setting up your workspace and transferring designs to basic filing, sawing and soldering skills. Additional diagrams give clarity to tricky stages, and there are also examples of what can go wrong and how to fix it. Techniques are interspersed with practical projects so that you can create beautiful items of jewellery as you learn, from simple silver rings to elegant stone-set pendants. Includes advice on practicing using inexpensive materials, and tips on designing your own unique pieces. Nicola Hurst gained a degree in jewellery making in 1990 and began her own jewellery making business five years later. She teaches adult evening classes to complete beginners as well as more advanced makers. She also teaches private classes from her own workshop. Her jewellery sells in galleries and shops all around the UK.

Customer Reviews

Not all is as seems3
This book on it's own is a very good book and I have no complaints what so ever in it's contents and can recommend it, however, I also purchased the other book by Nicola Hurst "Step by Step jewelry workshop" only to find that it's exactly the same content, the only difference was the outer cover, this was a great disappointment to me.

Excellent!5
Excellent book for a beginner. Also good for more advanced jewellery maker. Simple and easy to follow covering basic techniques. Good source of ideas.

great book but caution!4
This book is great for beginners and i would definetelly recommend it, but DON'T order it together with "Jewellery Making: A Complete Course for Beginners by Jinks McGrath" because although they are from different authors, they are from the same editor and they are pretty much alike. I could not tell you which one to prefer, because they have almost the same structure-comprehensive etc-but they even have a picture the same! So, make your choice as you wish in order not to have two great but similar books in your library.
